I'm thinking of using Big Apple Buddy to get the 128gb version while a sales on. $499 USD, Model number GA03923-US.

Hopefully no import tax as it's under $1000 NZ

Anyone see any issues with this or know of a better alternative for a non Japan version?

Edit: total cost will end up about $1174 if no tax paid.

Thanks

I used Big Apple Buddy to get my Pixel 3XL then my Pixel 6Pro
They are very good to deal with.
They even advised me when I bought the 3XL to wait for the Black Friday sale (saved me US$200 at the time)

My 6Pro took longer to get from Auckland to Christchurch than it took from New York to Auckland though.

My P7P has spent a week going through Customs clearance in Auckland, after taking only 36 hours to get from Hong Kong to NZ!

Finally released today but nowhere near Wellington yet...

The Expansys avenue did work well though, despite some confused stocking and ordering emails.

Mine took about a week just coming from Aussie.

They told me that they get Japan and US stock, but when I asked about getting a US version they just didn't reply. I've decided I'll be happy with whatever version I get! My brother got a Japan market 6A and the shutter noise is not bad at all.

The Expansys support is crap but their actual service is quick and not dodgy. I queried a drop in price and whether the difference could be credited and they started cancelling my order! So I told them to not do that given the phone was already in Auckland. The challenges of customer support when English is a second or third language!

Glad to hear that it wasn't just me with a long wait for customs clearance. Aside from that process, DHL Express (not DHL Auspost) have been great.

That was my experience as well (when I asked for a Pixel 6a). As a result, I purchased from Amazon USA

I have the Japanese version. Its really not an issue with the camera click. Its just a geek thing, rather than a real world constraint. Doesn't the phone have to be compatible with the NZ system? Is the US version suitable then?

That's beyond my knowledge I'm afraid!

Today was the day, a hurried drive across the entirety of Wellington to pick it up from DHL haha.

I got lucky and have the GB model, which should be all good with our networks. I haven't put the Sim in yet so will do that later on once I've got time! I'm on 2D so I'll let you all know what the network functions are, but I fully expect no VoLTE or 5G.

First impressions are that it is pretty big and heavy but not as unwieldy as a Max iPhone oddly.

The camera setup is pretty intense, compared to my 4a 5G anyway! That telephoto is a big 'ol lens.

I've had my Pixel 7 for about a week now (NA version). First impressions are really positive! It's not much bigger than the Pixel 2 it replaced, so I'm not having any trouble using it with one hand. The only really negative thing I could say about it is the speakers are surprisingly weird/bad. Using the same exact sound (same .wav file, even) as a notification noise and the 7 sounds blown out and crappy, like it's coming through an analog phone speaker lol.

I think this must be a software issue because turning on adaptive sound and following some online tutorials with an equalizer seems to have fixed it (mostly). I'm glad I never actually use my speakers for anything beyond call/text notifications though. It doesn't actually change anything about my impression or use of the phone, I still love it, but it's something I didn't see here and it's worth being aware of if you don't use headphones or use speakerphone a lot.

No VoLTE, VoWifi, 5g on 2degrees, but I'm not bothered by any of that yet. I'll switch to spark if it becomes an issue before it gets provisioned for the other carriers.

I ordered the Pixel 7 Pro from Mighty Ape today. Hopefully the Wifi Calling will work on the Spark network. My house has some black spots.
