I'm with spark.

That looks promising.
Can you please click on the 3 dots in the upper corner and check the IMS service status menu?

I've got a Pixel 7 Pro coming my way by means of the Australian google store, and a friend redirecting it for me :)

I'm so excited, my S20FE is behaving like it's made of the finest soviet silicone :\

gzt: Wow do you get 5G?

Nope, no 5G for pixels in NZ.

Do NZ carriers not have the right frequencies for 5G on the Aussie pixels? Not that i'm too worried, I'm in Whanganui and basically no 5G here lol.

There's a bit of 5G in Whanganui, especially with Vodafone *cough* I mean One :)

I'm on Spark, too many Bad experiences with "One" /snort, Spark 5G in Wanganui is very very patchy, like, 4 blobs that barely cover whole suburbs.

Where I live, I barely get 2 bars of 4G (Yes, I've had them up about it, i'm on the edge of 2 suburbs so it's not like i'm in the whopwhops)

Yeah Spark only just introduced 5G to Whanganui. How can't they cover such a small city!? /hj

My very limited understanding is that the phone manufacturer has to publish settings for each phone carrier (2degrees, spark, etc) to enable VoLTE and such. Without that the Pixel 7 won't be very useful when the 3G networks are switched off. This is just from what I read on the other thread around here about VoLTE on Pixels, have a read of that thread for more info.

I’m pretty sure it supports n78(3500) which is universal with all carriers including us. The problem is configuration and the phone knowing us/your carrier. Otherwise you get basic 4G at the least, anything more is a bonus. Interesting to hear the pixel 7 pro supposedly does VoLTE on Spark ….

Of course the usual disclaimer if we or your carrier don’t sell it, we likely can’t troubleshoot it.

Personally I’ve seen reviews and it’s what the 6 should have been… 🤔 might see if it’s worth it.

I imagine with Google themselves selling them in the Aussie market, they'll look at us as well. There will be plenty of enterprising folk such as myself who will do what I did I imagine lol.

I have pretty much decided I'll be getting a P7P, despite the VoLTE situation and no 5G. Having a Sammy work phone has confirmed for me that I don't want to to that way for my personal device and I heavily prefer the Pixel camera science.

I am ideally waiting for Mighty Ape to get stock, but I see that Becextech (whatever that is) has them for a price that is literally too good to be true. Meanwhile Parallel Imported NZ is charging a cool $2000 for a 128gb Pro model... From Japan so will have the camera shutter noise.

I'm going to Australia end of March, so if the prices are too steep I'll pick one up then and claim the tax off at the border (which I think you can still do). The only issue will be my lack of willpower until then haha

Check out dicksmith.co.nz regularly. I wouldn't be surprised if PBTech end up getting them.

Well they're up at MightyApe, a markup on them but not unreasonable compared to an S22 or iPhone 14.

they appear to be the Japan model though, which is not good news.
