I think experience can be dependent on the carrier.
Spark / Skinny are currently the only carriers that support all calling methods.
5G can be quite draining on the battery, but Pixels have a setting where it can turn off 5G unless you are using enough throughput that it actually requires 5G - then it turns it back on for you.
Haptic experience across Pixels is probably better than any other phone you will touch.
Any phone can be slightly broken with an update - including pixels
YEah just seen VOWIFI and LTE is available on Spark, which I am thankfully with. I assume the call screening still isn't available? Think I might pull the trigger, $1300 via JB in Aussie is too good to pass up.
timmmay: Even 4G is a bit of a battery hog, I have 5G turned off. It's okay, just a bit battery hungry.
The phone'in general work well. Compared with my Pixel 4a the main changes are better battery life, mobile data battery drain, better camera, and it's quite a bit faster. If you are coming from a non-pixel there will probably be lots of little things that you will notice that I'm used to.
I went from a Pixel 4XL to a Oneplus 8 Pro. I have used that for a year now and it's fine apart from not having wireless charging. I get around using a Qi charger adapter which is fine but means it ties up the USB port for regular charging when I need it in a hurry.
I get 5G and VoLTE on Kogan (One). My Pixel 8 has arrived but is still in a box. I guess will do the move this weekend but I am waiting for a case and screen cover. I would be annoyed if I didn't get VoLTE on Kogan since I just bought another year of their plan.
timmmay: . . .The battery life using mobile data is quite terrible, but on Wi-Fi. The battery life is quite good.

Just worked, I got a Spark prepay sim and tested it out first.
Hoping 2Degrees offer this for Pixels after the latest security update (1 Nov 23).
If anyone can test and see if they now have WiFi calling with 2 degrees that would be great!

Anyone know where MightyApe is getting their stock from? I know they've sourced Pixel phones from Japan in the past which is something I'd like to avoid
Ended up contacting MightyApe directly to find out, and the phone supposedly has US specs and is imported from Hong Kong. As Hong Kong doesn't get the Pixel 8 that still leaves open the question where exactly they're coming from, though really all I care about is that they're not the Japanese model.
Is anyone who has bought a Pixel 8 from MightyApe able to confirm its the US/International model rather than the Japanese one?

Yep - the Black Friday special on Amazon makes the Pixel 8 about NZD$1,080 delivered, including GST.

That's a great price. I haven't worked out exactly what I paid for mine, but about NZ$1300 for the phone, $150 shipping, $100 GST, take away $250 credit, comes to about NZ$1300 I think.
It's a good phone, but it's just a phone. I don't think I've used any features that a Samsung wouldn't have yet, and the Samsungs don't have the weird camera bump.

How are you getting it sent to NZ?
I tried buying from AUS JB but they won't deliver it to me in NZ
I'm going to Melbourne on Friday.
I bought the Pixel 8 and I am now wondering if I should go for the OnePlus 11 5G instead.
$1099 shipped from Amazon including all taxes.

I am moving from a OnePlus 9 5G and when I compare the size of the two phones (I am just using the case I bought for the P8 - the phone itself is still sealed) it is smaller I am used to the larger size now. And I know on Kogan (One.NZ) I can get 5G and VoLTE (no idea about VoWiFi) but there are no guarantees with the P8 unless I move to Spark or 2D.
A local store sells the OnePlus 5G but with Chinese ROM and Play Store but I would really prefer to get one that has a proper ROM.
What do folks think?

Thanks. I don't think I need VoWiFi since I am rarely in an area with bad cell reception but good WiFi. And if I am, well there is always say VoIP call.
