just had nexus - 2 days old. walking on the path today, drop it and the whole screen f***ed. now, what can i do? it doesnt even light up

It's clearly not a warranty issue. You broke it. 

You could claim on insurance if you have a policy and it covers such things.

Otherwise, search online for anyone you may be able to send it to for repairs. There may be another Nexus One that has a good screen but got wet or something. Then a skilled person might be able to swap the screens.

Or sell this one on TradeMe as damaged and for parts...and buy another one and be more careful....(simplest advice, really).  

I understand your pain....I'd be gutted.
