I think Google will add it to the OS soon, especially since they've released high quality gaming SDK and those games take space. I don't really expect to see it in the very near future though. Once the Desire gets Rooted we can just use app2sd to achieve this end.

kiwitrc: My Desire is sitting in a box on my desk at work since I left early to go to Martinborough for the weekend to help get rid of the wine glut.

Drink wine vs go home early, this is worse than no updates during shipping!!

Sitting on your desk at work is better than sitting stuck in a warehouse half way around the world in the UKSmile

Even worse... I've learned the hard way not to go for accessories! I've just had a reply to my email from Clove saying my order hasn't been processed because the car mount I ordered was out of stock!!! It'll arrive in a few days.

But of course, depending on volcanic activity my order might catch up to yours DC? Laughing

It may well do, we just can't catch a break at the moment Smile

Ugh, apparently my card was declined for some reason. All I can imagine is that I somehow managed to write down the wrong number, though I'll have to talk to my bank to be sure. Further delays to what is already going to be a long wait :(

Very nice review :) Let me know if you need a second opinion for the rest of your review.

In short, all I can say is that this is definitely the best phone I've ever had. By far. It's just so balanced. Great build quality, and the extremely vivid and responsive capacitive touchscreen amazes me every single time I use the phone (mind you, this is the first touch screen phone I've had, but have played around with my brother's iPhone 3GS a fair bit, and the responsiveness of the Desire blows the 3GS out of the water).

And with regards to battery life, I managed to squeeze out about 15 hours with quite a fair bit of usage on the very first charge (24/7 sync with Google/Gmail/Friend Stream/Weather etc.), WiFi on about 75% of the time, a lot of texting and moderate web browsing. I'm hoping the battery life will improve slightly after a few charge cycles though :)

Looking at the news tonite most FedEx planes are grounded so I assume the same will apply to other freighters so your fone may arrive in months not weeks..

Sigh...if only I ordered a couple of days earlier :o( I now have the tracking number but that doesn't really mean much. And I've just sold my E71 too! Damn it! Now I have to go back to my old HTC Touch Cruise :o(

Just got back from Brisbane - been looking everywhere for HTC desire. Many phone retailers say they getting phone next wk and will sell for $899 Aussie dollar til 27th April when Telstra Clear will sell for $780A. I might wait til end of the mth and hopefully the price will drop and I can pick up a black one

This is a Aussie seller and postage is something like $40au. It would cost around $900nz. What do you guys think? It would dodge the ash.

That looks promising! It will certainly avoid the delays.

Interesting how they offer 1 year warranty though - I'm pretty sure Clove offered 2 years. Wonder how that works...

Yeah very trusted seller too. I'll see how the ash saga is going in a week and decide where I'll order from i think.
