NZtechfreak: Bendigo, you have mail.
NZtechfreak: Is this via inbuilt Google Sync, or using Exchange? Whichever it is, try the other (HTCs Exchange sync is better than the inbuilt one anyways).

Don't actually know how to do that
NZtechfreak: Actually, better than getting a stream of PMs here is a linklist with all my Android APKs for things not available in the market (LastFM [1.5.0 build, haven't collected an APK for the 1.5.1 build yet], Dolphin HD with youTube download inbuilt, and the Swype beta).
If people have other good APKs please PM me so I can host them.

NZtechfreak: Froyo (2.2) port coming to our Desires next week according to Paul Obrian (bloody useful chap to follow in Twitter!).

JellyWeb: My phone got a bit rooted last night, no I didn't [intentionally] root it!
WARNING: A task killer (Advanced Task Killer) is responsible for this (that pesky little green droid in the top left above), and now I can't use my Desire at all (untill I do a factory reset, or root it).
Sense is totally corupted, all i see is the above, no matter how many times I 'force close'.
I haven't tried a button factory reset yet, but that should work. If not I may be forced to root the phone. Will that void my warrenty?
A warning to others: Now I know why a lot of people say 'Dont use task killers' - they can really f#$k things up!
So, how many of you are using task killers, and do we need them? I killed all tasks late last night cause the phone seemed a bit slow. there were so many tasks that i didn't bother to be selective, just killed the lot, and look what's happened :(
Hopefully the factory reset and restore from backup will mean this is just a small annoyance.

Courtesy of XDA:
"I have gotten google sync working in all Android 2.0 roms through exchange. It syncs mail, contacts, and calendar without the need for google apps. To get this working open email, and make a new exchange account and put in your gmail email address and password and then select manual setup. Select exchange account. For Domain/Username put in "/username@gmail.com" without quotes. The password should be filled in from the previous field. The Exchange server is "m.google.com" without quotes. Check both boxes below and hit next. Select the checking frequency(or push) and amount to synchronize. Select which options you want below, then select next. Put in an account name and display name, then hit done. If you have corporate calendar installed, then your calendar will synchronize and so will your contacts and email. Now you have push gmail, contacts, and calendar. Because exchange will only synchronize a month of emails, I also setup my gmail as an IMAP account so I still have access to my old emails. The android email app is not as good as the gmail app IMHO, but it is a temporary solution, and new emails seem to show up faster this way!"
EDIT: Just saw your confirmation Bendigo, thanks, and you're welcome :) Don't worry too much about memory - we're getting 2.2 within the year (from HTC officially), and much sooner than that on unofficial channels...
