Like the HTC Dice and Coin widgets too!

Mine is still there. BTW DPW has started a Desire/Froyo specific thread called HTC Desire and Froyo

Bit late now but Sim Checker Pro sends a text to specified numbers if the SIM is changed. Pretty good way to track one down if its pinched. Problem with GPS is that it wont work if the phone is inside.

This is why i have several trigger email and text messages setup to provide info and tracking, as well as sim checker and instamapper. Once the sim card is changed it will make it slightly more difficult to track, but im going to setup some rules in tasker to hopefully get around that.

Damn, that's off!

I was thinking though, your phone's serial number, IMEI etc was probably recorded by your carrier (2degree's IIRC), so, with appropriate documentation, you could get that info - it's yours under the Privacy Act. You could then get the phone itself blacklisted as stolen on ALL NZ carriers.

Ok, it won't get your phone back - unless they take it in to 'get fixed' - but atleast crime won't pay for them...

Umm, I think the Ultimate security system would be something like this:

1. User Password protected Boot menu (so the phone cannot be wiped by the thief).

2. A hidden security app (also password protected so cant be uninstalled) that forwards all the new SIM's info to a pre-defined number (silently), along with any new phone numbers and names. Maybe even txt contents. Also hides/deletes contacts and calendar info.

3. Optionally, on receipt of a special TXT, turns on these security features (in case they use YOUR sim), locks/unlocks the phone (if the phone is locked and they can't use it, it'll be dumped quick - along with your hopes of getting it back). Maybe it can even send GPS co-ordinates at 6am (e.g. assumedly when the thief is at home asleep - you then have his street address and he's asleep when the cops arrive).

4. optional SD card encryption (protect your info).
