If it was my phone, I'd probably search for a fix just like you have done. Eventually though, I would stop wasting my time I'd probably just return it. Perhaps claim that there was a power outage when updating with Kies or that Kies crashed.

Go back to where you bought it. If it ends up getting back to Samsung, I'm not sure that they are going to bother analysing what is wrong with the software, especially in NZ. So, hopefully you'll get a replacement.

In the worst case scenario, if they say that it's your fault and won't fix it, then they have to return the phone to you in the state it is in now. So you can still work on finding a fix later - but hopefully they just fix it.

Edit - I've only had this happen once with a piece of computer hardware. (long time ago). I messed up the firmware upgrade of a chip on a PCI board of some sort. It was dead, I couldn't figure a way to fix it. Initially I freaked out, but eventually I contacted the distributor in NZ. They got me to send it to them and they had a device to reflash the eeprom or whatever it was. It was not a problem for them and they just charged me shipping. Chances are, whomever get's your device at the end will have a way to fix it easily. They may just fix it without even looking into the problem.

BAH! No ones gonna believe that kies crashed during an update. It's such a well written piece of software.

well yeah say kies crashed during the firmware update. don't say anything else. you can't remember specific details.  After this the phone wouldn't make calls. if they later come back to you and ask more questions and why you were flashing it etc, say that after it died either you or a friend tried to fix it using odin. If they ask why you didnt try and re update the firmware with kies just say that kies wouldn't recognise the phone anymore after the failed update.

otherwise you can just act dum, and answer I don't know, I'm not sure to any question they ask.

I don't know if any of you remember, but I posted about an issue with my images being fragmented. Once I started saving images onto phone memory instead of external micro sd, the issue was gone. So I took the micro SD card back to Harvey Norman and they've replaced it. Today I took my first image and have the same issue. I don't know what to do, take it back again? Maybe it is an issue with my phone?

Edit, this is what images look like:  http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs779.snc4/65944_10150094720209951_698649950_7278916_3487948_n.jpg

Was the new micro SD also a different brand & capacity. I would try different brand, maybe a friends micro SD first, if still a problem then it sounds like something is wrong with the phone.

Looks like something faulty with your phone. Even if they work when saving on the internal sd and not on external sd it may mean a hardware fault with the micro sd reader.

What a nightmare. I've rang Samsung and they said it looks like might be an issue with external card reader (like you said lokhor). I have to return it to Harvey Norman and they will have to send it to Samsung. I spoke with Harvey Norman and they said that the repair might take up to 10 working days and they do not provide a loan phone while mine is getting fixed... I find that very unusual. Nevertheless I will be dropping my phone off to Harvey Norman tomorrow. Since I bought the phone it has been nothing but trouble. Bloody hell. *angry face*

That's bs about not providing a loan phone. You should ring citizen's advice bureau and ask if Harvey Norman have to give you one under the consumer guarantees act and if they don't whether they just have to replace the unit immediately.

I studies commercial law you see. But under consumer's guarantees act it doesn't state anything in regards to loan cell phones. If it had to do with a landline, which is considered important for emergency calls, then sure, they must provide me with one. I have to dig up my comlaw books and have a closer looksie. Regardless, it's a pain in a**.

Hi, long press on the gap where the icon used to be, then a little pop up appears  > Edit dock shortcut.
Select Change shortcut - and then find the one you want included in the dock.
