slightly off topic, but related to peoples purchase of this phone. Most people in this thread have ordered their Galaxy S I9000 through clove.co.uk As I have never ordered through them before just wondering why Clove? cheaper? good service?

I've ordered through clove earlier in the week. Order was shipped out within the day so looking like great service thus far. There were a few other cheaper places ... but best stick with what you know.

Clove are good
unlocked-mobiles.com are just as good too, very fast service and responses and cheaper I think.

kiwijunglist: Am I right in the 3G on 850 would be 3G GSM 850Mhz which wouldnt work with telecom because telecom is 3G WCDMA 850 MHz?

(I don't really understand the differences but i just read that telecom is WCDMA 850, and I assume the phone would be GSM 850)

No, the 850Mhz WCDMA is "3G", so if it's listing 850mhz WCDMA/3G/UMTS, then it'll work on XT. If it's only 850mhz gsm, it won't work on XT.

Samsung Thailand - website

HSUPA 900/1900/2100
EDGE/GPRS 850/ 900/1800/1900

Samsung Australia - website

GSM Band / EDGE Band = 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Band = 850 / 1900 / 2100
Network & Data (3G) = HSDPA 7.2 / HSUPA 5.76

------------

Not sure what this means exactly. Does this mean that the Thai version has 3G HSUPA on 900Mhz, where as the Australian version has 3G HSUPA/HSDPA on 850Mhz??? Which version would be better for NZ users?

So the thailand one would be at a disadvantage if you use it with telecom, but if you use it with vodafone and 2degrees there would be no difference?

Yes if you used it with telecom it wouldnt be 3g it would use GPRS so would be a lot slower..
Using it with vodafone/2 degrees would be using 3g as it has 2100.

actually
though vodafone does use 2100 & 900
2100 in urban areas.. 900 in non urban areas... :)

so best if you are going with vodafone to get one that supports that

NO!
XT is 850mhz/2100mhz (infill) 3G ONLY. There is no GSM on XT at all.
So unless it does 850mhz 3G (NOT GSM) it's not going to work very well. (Only in places XT has 2100mhz, which isnt very many places)

Well there you go... :)
All the more reason to stay with vodafone.

@ vinnieg: Did you receive the GS case that you ordered from the UK? Keen to know what it's like.

Not yet :( the Tv-out arrived yesterday which I ordered a few days after,  has almost been 2 weeks, will contact the seller if it hasn't arrive by Monday

crap, infact maybe I should email them now:

We aim to deliver to Western European destinations within three working days, eastern Europe within five days, major cities worldwide within five days and other destinations within seven.

Just ordered a soft/gel case myself off Amazon UK - will post comment when it arrives. There still do not seem to be many about - probably because GS is still so new. No other real accessories either - looking for a desk docking station in due course if poss.
