Wipeout:
Neets: While we've been kept in the dark from Geekzone I've managed to flash Doc's v4 ROM successfully, set up my phone then completely screw it up by changing the battery mod resulting in multiple force closes.  That'll teach me for copying the file over with Root Explorer rather than flashing it with CWM.  I've done it before with Root Explorer.  Going to set up the phone again and then flash the framework-res.apk file from the zip created in UOT Kitchen the *proper* way.  Hubby's already asked if it's going to be another midnight bed-time for me.  NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Oh noooo... At least it's reversible. :>

Edit: Anyone know how to thank someone on XDA? I can't seem to find a tab or anything next to usernames...

Well you could send a personal message.  I guess it depends what theme you're using for XDA becuase I get a thank button under the name of the user.  Click the button and you've thanked them (for that post).
aha! Yes, I can see it now, ty. :>

Hey..  have been reading the forum.    I just want to say that Froyo is actually out for Vodafone NZ phone.  I updated my phone 2 days ago using Samsung Kies without any problem.   I don't know why some of you guys can't update.

See image below.

Well things are screwy here.
First Root Explorer wasn't on my phone after doing Titanium Backup.  I had to download it again from the market (actually TB showed about 3 applications with ticks for my batch restore where the app name was empty, so I deselected them).

Anyway, decided to take a ROM backup but that app wasn't installed either [sigh].  Downloaded it again from the market and then went to take a Backup.
Rebooted to recovery and did some Multi CSC check which failed [rolls eyes].

Next thing I'm back to 3e and I tried to apply the update.zip and it failed, twice, some unsigned something a rather [pulls hair].

This is the very same update.zip file I've already used tonight when flashing Doc's ROM.

Bed time me thinks.

I realise I can just flash the CF root again in Odin but how annoying to be told the update.zip file can't be used. Gawd.

EDIT:  Turned phone off.  Went to recovery and CWM is there!  For goodness sakes.  So while I'm here I'll take the plunge and just flash the framework-res.apk zip file.  Here goes nothing.

Yep.  Should have just walked away.  The file doesn't show (odd) so I selected to ++ go back ++ and used the usual back buttton and now I get a message on the screen:

ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.1.0 SpeedMod ULFK Back menu button disabled

Nice.

Samsung NZ told me in a email it's not available. I have no idea how you can get it. :)

Go directly to bed.

Do not pass Go.

Do not collect $200.

In the morning, maybe a reflash back to JM8, full factory/dalvik cache wipe first?

Bugger!

I bought my phone from DSE if that is of any help.  It is running the official 2.2 version.  GPS is very much improved.

The lag that was present in 2.1 is also almost all gone.  Slight lag sometimes but much improved compared to 2.1.  Skype works great.

Even when I use Kies Registry Patcher to make Kies think that my phone is 2.1, the update will become available again.  Maybe Kies is not reading some of the phone's firmware version correctly?

My phone is currently running Firmware 2.2 ,  Baseband version I9000SRJP2, Kernel version 2.6.32.9 root@SE-S604 #9, Build number FROYO.SRJP3

Universal Lag Fix Knickers? Kludge? Kokup?

Sorry, my detective skills don't run to decoding arcane acronyms. Smile

But my heart goes out to you because I've been there, done that, got the t shirt and the relaxed bowel effect that accompanies it all.

Good luck on the recovery Neets,

Cheers,
R2D2

I'm having a roaring laugh.  Anyway I held the power button down and it booted up just fine.  I wont learn, but from that I will learn [shakes head].

Toodle pip, bedtime!

Just delete Kies and re-install it (the most recent version) and all will be back to normal.

(I think... Laughing )
