Neets: Right, one more from me. The only thing not working as it was since flashing Doc's v4 JPU rom is PXT.
I've gone back to look at what happened with R2D2 and it came down to the +6421600600 number. Mine has retained that.
I've restored my APN's. I'm using the very same ones that have worked in the past.
Is there some trick I've overlooked? I wondered if you can't sent a PXT until you've received a text or something. Well I've received a TXT.
Does anyone know if there's something peculiar to this, maybe you have to hold your tongue a certain way?? Cheers.
I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.
wazz: So I completely bricked my phone with a bad odin flash. Anyway samsung have fixed it under warranty and I should be getting it back before christmas.
Will be making sure I get a new usb cable before I flash again, pretty sure thats what did it.
Eeek. Sorry to hear that wazz. Is your USB not the original one? Are you sure you computer didn't have a little hiccup. I usually reboot mine before I use Odin. Just to be sure. Great that it's being fixed under warranty. How did that pan out?

Well I tried all the different usb ports, reinstalling the drivers but it would always get stuck somewhere. Was fine the first couple times (rebooted back into download mode). Eventually it semi bricked my phone but I had the usb jig so it wasn't a big deal but I was getting tired, hit the wrong button and bricked it.
The usb cable is the original one but it got stuck in a car door a couple days earlier, while it looked fine and transferred data I suspect it was damaged.
On the warranty I just told them a flash went bad, surprised they fixed it.
Neets:
Do you have the face of an innocent child wazz ;-)

I had this issue - and found the same sorts of things you've found already.
You might want to try the following:
-move the 172.x.x.x address from "server" to "mms proxy"
-apn type = mms only
I was testing this initially by trying to send a pxt to myself, and it never seemed to work. Pxt to my gfs phone seems fine though. However, testing it now all is good.
This has prompted me to find out how to do screenshots from the phone - I'll post my current settings when I've sussed it - presuming you've not fixed it by then...

As long as all the APN fields for mms are 100% correct and the phone has been restarted it should work.
(the phone must be restarted to use the new settings)
That's what worked with me.
I did notice the IP address you posted earlier is missing the .3 at the end. It should be 172.30.38.3
This should be under MMS Proxy not Server as mine was

Sheesh - installing all the SDK depencies is taking too long... Here's the pxt settings in long hand:
name= VFNZ PXT
APN= live.vodafone.com
proxy= not set
port= not set
user= *
pass= *
server= not set
mmsc= http://pxt.vodafone.net.nz/pxtsend
mms proxy= 172.30.38.3 (padding zeroes deleted) (note i had mistakenly put "proxy" above)
mms port= 8080
mcc= 530
mnc= 01
auth type= not set
apn type= mms
I made the "VFNZ internet" apn type internet only as well, which may have helped fix my 3g internet connectivity as well as pxting.
YodAboY: Has anyone 2.2.1 had issues with apps spontaneously reverting to a freshly installed state (i.e. asking you to accept a license agreement or some such thing)?
Samsung apps has done it 2 or 3 times now, and I'm pretty sure watchdog lite has done the same.
