nofam: Does anyone have a download link for the XXJPY modem?

I flashed a new DOC Rom, but used the JL2 modem, which doesn't seem to work with Vodafone?

Oops. . . . Foot in mouth

If you haven't found it yet.  It's here.

Cheers Neets - is this flashable via CWM, or is it for use with Odin?

99% sure it's flashable via cwm. Not home at the moment to look. but I've not seen anything from Docs website that's Odin.

Well, I can't comment on Docs but I'm loving Darkys, absolutely fantastic. My phones been running for 1 day and 13hours on average use with 40 percent battery left. But I'm sure the others well compare them properly

i took the plunge too - was very happy to see Darky's 9.1 with most/all of the problems from the 9.0.x fiasco resolved. now that is is updated to the latest JS3 build fro JPY i decided to go for it.

installed 9.1 wipe over the top of my 9.0.1, voodoo kernel, lagfix enabled. i know quadrant is not really comparable, but for the same handset i was getting flat 1000's before and now 1500 just from this change. phone was already fast, now its even faster thru multiple screens, apps etc.

i reflashed JL2 modem over the top of the JPY modem that installed by default. all data/wifi seems to be working fine, reinstalled a bunch of apps, resynched all my contacts, screen was on for about an hour, and only used about 9% battery the whole time. so im pretty impressed with this build.

still trying to test evrything to make sure all works, (have not tested sms/mms/voice calls yet, will do so in a minute) but marketplace, superuser tools, camera etc all that stuff is working fine. even set up the correct APNs for me automatically.

my biggest complaint: i lost all my progress in RoboDefence (apologies defragger i said EmpireDefence, actually i meant Robodefence) so ima have to start again. bummer. but im super happy with this build, and will hang on to it for a while now.

[edit] sms, mms and calls all pass no problems :0

Got Darkys 9.1.

It's great, all the slight problems I had with 2.2.1 are completely gone. Haven't made any changes to anything and it all works perfectly straight out of the flash.  And the battery life is just sublime now.

Such a simple process too.

Folks a question,

I am running VFNZ stock Froyo 2.2, have 2e recovery, I want to install Darky's Rom.

The process I am intending to follow is:

Install Speedmod Kernel using Odin from the link below:

http://touristinparadise.blogspot.com/2010/11/samsung-galaxy-s-download-speedmod.html

(Does is matter which version of Odin is used?)
Have got Root access and have copied the efs\ folder.
Tried to install Titanium back but that failed saying it couldn't get root access

Once I have Speedmod Kernel installed, going to download Darky's rom and install it by getting into recovery mode and applying the *update.zip. My understanding is that Speedmod kernel has CWM recovery? So I don't need to get 2e recovery?

Any suggestions/corrections welcome.

Thanks

I don't quite follow why you are installing speedmod seperately. This has not been a requirement of darkyy's roms in the past. Has something changed? I'm only on v8.0 so am not up with the play, but previously, speedmod or voodoo would be included in his rom and you would choose which zip accordingly.

I think he wants to use the Speedmod kernel to get CWM so he can flash Darky's Rom easily.

How is that easier than simply putting update.zip on your phone and flashing darkyy's rom + speedmod at the same time?

Why use odin at all? Seems to me its a much more risky and tedious way to go about this. What am I missing here?

If you don't have 2e recovery (i.e. you are running a froyo stock rom) then you need to flash a CWM or 2e enabled kernel before being able to flash an update.zip
