I don't have 2e recovery, the stock VFNZ Samsung Froyo has 3e recovery. Can I flash CWM recovery on to 3e recovery or do I need 2e recovery in order to flash CWM recovery?

fahrenheit:
lokhor: If you don't have 2e recovery (i.e. you are running a froyo stock rom) then you need to flash a CWM or 2e enabled kernel before being able to flash an update.zip

fallen: Folks a question,

I am running VFNZ stock Froyo 2.2, have 2e recovery, I want to install Darky's Rom.

Thats the bit that I don't get then.

Sorry my mistake, I dont have 2e recovery, have 3e recovery.

I updated to Doc's latest ROM as per my sig below (I even used the right modem this time!), and the browser is really crap.  I seem to remember reading about this on XDA, but can't remember if there was a fix for it?

You need a kernel or rom with 2e recovery to flash CWM, or just use odin to flash Speedmod to get CWM

Thanks. Does it matter which version of Odin I use?

Do you have SGS Tools?  I think there's a market fix for the Internet there.

I actually like the XWJS3 stock browser, it's faster than the other ones. The only problem is the 4 window limitation.

I just don't like the way fonts are blocky for a second or two when you pinch zoom, and the nasty checker board pattern you get when you scroll on picture-heavy sites like stuff.co.nz.

@Neets - I did actually try the SGS Tools fix, but it didn't seem to work.

By the way, has anyone tried the Tegrak kernel now in the kitchen?

I don't mind the way the fonts go blurry while zooming as they fix themselves fairly rapidly and the checkerboard thing is better than the severe lag experienced with the older browser.

Still using Trasig's kernel.  Looks like he's back to developing it based on what someone saw of his github site.

I guess I never noticed the lag as I don't really go to a lot of graphical sites.  Do you have a reference site that you use to work the browser hard as a test?

The engadget.com full website as well as pocketnow.com full website are both fairly hefty

Who's using Docs rom? A bit of research has made me believe it to be a lot faster and stable than Darkys, what do you guys think?

I'm using one I cooked last week and the phone is amazing compared to stock. Don't have anything else to compare it against though.

Once upon a time for kicks I installed Darky's rom.  But only ran it for a short time.  Apart from that I've stuck with Docs roms.  I don't have any problem with it at all that makes me want to go to anyone elses Rom.
