defragger: So Doc's ROM.

Quite impressed. Slick and fast. On 76% Battery after 35 hours with low to moderate use which is insane. Best battery life I've had EVER!

Might stick on this boat for a while :)

Hmm, I've been going for nearly 24hours with 80% on lightish use which is great, but I find that there's a point where it doesn't matter anymore and it's personal obsession :)

nofam: Anyone had a fangle with Doc's XWJS5 yet (it's now in the public kitchen)? Just downloading now. . . . .May get some flash-time over the weekend.

Just checked it out after your post, do you think much has changed except for the base rom(which apparently is very similar to JS3)? Might need to break out the Titanium Backup :P

Do you think it's worth flashing a JS5 rom?

There does seem to be some reports on XDA that the stock JS5 kernel is actually as fast (if not faster) than SpeedMod etc. . . . But either way, the increases are there apparently, just very small.

Think I'll have a crack over the weekend. . . . But will pony up for the Pro Titanium Backup first, because having to manually reinstall all my apps is now the most painful part of flashing.

FWIW too I've never had any issues post-flash with FC's/funky market behaviour etc - and I think that's because I only ever flash wipe ROMs, with dalvik cache/cache/factory reset every time.

Or maybe I'm just lucky!!

Hi lokhor. The extended battery you're talking about is also recommended for the Galaxy S Fascinate (there's a place on that page which links the other phones that the battery works with). I pointed that one out as its greater duration might work for you. I'm thinking of getting one for myself and selling my spare on TradeMe. See here for compatible phones...

It might be compatible with the Fascinate but I doubt that it will fit the I9000, the backs are different and it requires a custom backplate.

Ok... I wasn't aware the Fascinate was materially different to the I9000.

A little follow-up to my SGS's AppBrain amnesia...

Further investigation revealed that noLED was forgetting its settings also, so the malaise was more widespread than I thought. The cure was a factory reset and reinstalling the apps without restoring their associated data. Not convenient but ultimately effective. In future I'll be doing a factory wipe as std op procedure whenever I flash.

Hope that helps anybody else with the same issue.

I think I just found a lag causing widget/app. It appears my pulse widgets(3 of em) which only update daily are using excessive CPU within in launcher pro causing all sorts of lag.

Ahhh yes, I guess that could be it. I more often than not take a wipe rom and do the Factory Reset. But I restore my apps with data usually without a problem. Again I had to clear the cache for Gmail and AppBrain was FCing and I did the same there. Both are now behaving :-)

I did the unthinkable. I dropped my phone on the floor. On the garage floor. The garage floor is NOT nice soft bouncy carpet. I had the phone in it's leather pouch. Just the corner is a little scratched. Everything seems fine - my HR has resumed to normal. And that'll teach me for not turning Wifi off before leaving the house and putting the phone in my cycle top pocket before heading out doors. A mistake I wont repeat.

Ouch - dropped mine on the footpath getting out of my car a while back; luckily the case took the hit, and the accelerometer went bananas for a bit, but it was fine.

Oh no Neets. I'm too scared to drop mine and have the Gorilla glass shatter.

Just the other day, dropped my phone onto tiles but managed to cushion it with my foot a few inches before it touched the ground, and haave it landing on it's back. Has a case on it which protected it from scratching/cracking the back panel.

On another note ~65 hours in with 33% battery still left. Pretty cool.

That's really good battery life. The best I have managed is 32 hours, with 3G data on during the day and wifi when at home.

Yeah this was with light to moderate use. WiFi off when screen is off, a few phone calls and some light gaming. Pretty much how I use it on a normal day to day basis so pretty stoked. Back on charge now though.

thats awesome. i havent tried to see how long i can get mine to last, cus i crack after a day and have to play a few rounds of robodefense which kinda ruins the run and drops me down to aorund 48hrs. but that sounds like your build of Doc's is better than Darky's. very nice! come a long way from stock eh!

ps: dont tell lokhor, he'll get real mad... ;p

What is the name of the app that automatically backs up the IMEI / EFS / NV_DATA files (not rootexplorer)?

I'm gonna flash a new rom on my friend's telecom i9000, I'm gonna flash it to stock samsung firmware 2.21, can someone tell me which modem I should flash for 850Mhz?
