mattyjnz: Hi all

Have been lurking in this forum for a while (since August) - bought my SGS in November. Has been very informative, so thanks to everyone for their assistance.

Have a question, have searched high and low, and can't find the answer I am looking for.

Last week got the cajones to flash Darky's ROM, using his installation guide for first time users - worked a treat. However, I thought as part of this process I would have been given root access, i.e. installed update.zip file then flashed Darky's v8.1.

Then while installing titanium back up, I get an error which says it could not acquire root access.

I have the Superuser app, but no root access ?

Is this possible ? or have I lost root access somewhere along the way since flashing ?

Thanks for your help.

Yer just re-root through cwm (your recovery). It's in there somewhere

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's under clockworkmod advanced features near the bottom.

Shrapnel: Here's a suggestion
Once your phone is charged right up to 100% while it's off you can pull the plug and quickly put it back in, then you'll notice that it'll charge for a little longer, if you keep doing this until the phone only takes a very short amount of time to get back to 100% it will help get your phone right up to 100% like it should be. Found this out off a tutorial and I think it does work quite good.

Its called bump charging:

Whats the best way of installing different custom roms. If I wanted to try out Doc rom should I install a stock rom via Odin, or can I install Doc Rom via CWM by doing a factory rest, wiping the cache etc,  rebooting into CWM and then installing the *.zip file?

Yep, a right royal pain in the arse.  Good to see there's a transparent widget for it.

How do you correct it?  I can't see anywhere that allows information to be updated.

Thanks. When I go into advanced CWM recovery, it gives me 7 options - I get wipe dalvik cache (?); wipe battery stats; report error; key test; partition sd card; and fix permissions....

[edit] - could it be the advanced Speedmod ULK feature that I need - one option is "ROOT / Install Superuser" ?

Live and learn, apparently it hits the battery long term a little bit with excessive bump charging. I only do it when calibrating a battery

You need an ID3 editor - or you can do it the painful way by going to file properties on an .mp3, select Summary, and then Advanced.

The best thing is an ID3 editor that can scrape music sites and do it all for you. . . . . I don't really have one to recommend though. . . .Actually, WMP might do it now I think about it?

It's been a while.
