Brendan: Just a quick tip: there was a guy on trademe a while ago selling "Best Skins Ever" body armour kits for the Sgs. I brought one for $18 (full body skin protection against scratches and fingerprintes), and having used it for a few months I can tell you now it's great!

It 'self heals' - e.g I did get a few long, tiny scratches in it, but after a few hours they had disappeared! Bloody great. It's been in my pocket (no keys etc) for months now, doesn't seem to have a big problem with lifting or browning etc.

It's a prick to apply - took a while, because of wanting it to be perfect. Do it in the bathroom with the shower running, it'll reduce the dust problem.

Looks like they are still on Trademe.  Do you use just the back, or both front and back?  Have you used the front without the protective skin?  Does the skin over the front detract from the great ease in which you swype over the glass?  TIA

I use the front, back, sides, the whole thing is covered from head to toe. Except the holes lol...

The screen protector is the best screen protector I have ever used - and that is over 5 smartfones, over the last 5 years odd. The thing that amazes me still is that the blacks on my amoled display are PITCH black, piano black. I still have a high gloss finish on the screen, and the whole phone.

It does not seem to detract from the swipeness of the screen. When newly applied, it might be a little rubbery but it seems to harden up, and for a few weeks had a slight orange-peel look from certain angles (but this was invisible with the screen on and disappeared after a few weeks). It is also fingerprint resistant (to a fairly high degree). After some months of usage, it is as smooth and slippery as the bare screen if not more.

I cannot reccomend it highly enough. Even if you only get the screen protection you will be pleased.

Swiping it just not repeatedly as I eat my lunch, I do not see any fingerprints. It feels smooth and my finger glides.

I better stop before people get turned on lol.

Anyway, for $18 you cannot go wrong. The one and only problem is that it's a prick to install: but worth it. It'll be the last one you ever need I bet. And it's semi-self healing properties push it over the top. Reviews are all over the web.

It's the "self-healing" qualities I like.  Especially after my little accident on Saturday.
Well the auction I'd linked to was gone but I've managed to find another one from the seller, it has my name on it and SOLD.

Don't suppose you want to put it on for me - haha

Speaking about cases, you can find really cheap ones on Ebay that come in all different colours and are quite good. I got a pretty sweet purple one for like $2 USD

I was just thinking about browser speed on the different roms and was wondering if anyone wanted to test running the sunspider javascript benchmark or browser mark  on their browser (you may need to set screen timeout to like 15 minutes or something though.

For an example of browsermark scores my phone got 26467 with stock browser on Doc's JS3
my work PC got 223046 in Firefox.

for sunspider v0.91 I got 6386.5ms +/- 5.4%

Ok - will reserve judgement (a little) - press units have a test firmware (how convenient!)

Probably add another one to that tally :D

Have been wanting to replace my screen protector for a while now, since I applied it very poorly - a few air bubbles etc. This looks perfect.

Also time to buy a new case, since my old one is starting too look real worn out and used. Off to ebay I go.

Saw a couple of pictures of it, I must say I like the look of it, especially that texture on the back though, the front and sides are in away similar what we have now. 1GB of ram seems a bit excessive....

i'd take the lag with a massive pinch of salt. the security device plugged into the usb slot (drawing uneven loads from th battery), pre production software etc.

i'm def gonna get it and pimp that sucker! Laughing also.. quad band 3g = my precioussssss hehe!

Wow, the Android multiverse is expanding at a phenomenal rate with more handsets than you can shake a stick at: besides the SGS2, NS, a bunch of HTCs - 8 at last count - LG's new beasts and a whole raft of lesser known handsets from Taiwanese and Chinese manufacturers, 'gaining traction' just doesn't do the platform justice.

Now, if we can get everybody to make GB 2.3 their minimum Android OS, things would be awesome. Or maybe that's more awesome. More potential customers for my apps. WooHoo! (Oops, I meant "more fellow Fandroids").

I don't "get" tablets, so unfortunately I can't wax lyrical about Xoom and such but presumably others here can and do, so there's options a-plenty appearing in their droves.

Cool time to be into tech, I think.

Cheers,
R2D2
