ArtooDetoo: Battery update...

Hi all.

Overnight drop was 11%, with data on but wifi off. So looking good so far.

Doubt that 40 hours will be possible but 30 is a given and 36 is certainly within reach. Woohoo...

Cheers,
R2D2

Everything off last night.  2% battery drop.  I'm fairly confident I have the fixed wifi anyway.

I'm getting some odd FCs at the moment which I've not experienced in past roms.  I don't know if it's the theme causing it or the rom.

Will have a look to see if there's been an update (I suspect not) and flash it.

My test tonight will be to turn data off and leave wifi on (sleep = never) so that I can compare the overnight drop with the result I got a couple of days back where ~40% of the battery charge disappeared overnight. I'm guessing that the new result will be a quarter to a third of that awful drop.

Then I will be happiness filled.  :D

And congrats for your 2% overnight drop (I was tempted to write "discharge" for variation but then I thought better of it :D ).  That's a piddling amount of energy loss. Try the wifi-on overnight test tonight and let us know how it goes - that'll confirm whether or not you already have the fix applied.

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner. HTC Sensation has gone to its new

defragger: Also I still have the problem of losing signal randomly. This issue has plagued be since the day I got this phone. Even with all the flashing of new ROMS and modems, it still is an issue. Happens about once a day. Only way to fix it is to restart the phone, and BAM, full strength signal.

I'm thinking more and more that it is hardware related. :(

Try this defragger... (courtesy of the interwebz)
"Go to the Allshare app on the Galaxy S and connect to wifi thru there. For some reason it's a stronger app and it works"

Well that's what it said anyway. Can't hurt to try and if it does the biz for ya, please post back with a "booyah" or two so's we can all benefit.

Sorry my bad. I wasn't clear. I meant service signal to the Telecom network, not wifi. It's quite annoying just randomly losing signal. Hopefully I can find a fix for it, or will just have to live with it until I buy a new phone sometime later this year.

Probably my assuming, rather than reading carefully, that put me on that tangent. Embarassed

Just ignore my suggestions - most do I think. Laughing

And finally...

The Galaxy finally shut itself down after a smidge over 40 hours. Can't complain about that.

So, problem gone and the battery endurance is better than it's ever been. Thanks for the advice and encouragement peeps (you know who you are Wink.

How much did you actually use it over that 40hrs?

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

My last charge got me about 60hours (cough cough) with fairly minimal to average use. My phones been on for 13 hours today and been using quite heavily the last 3 hours with 80% left :)

Edit: Bragging about battery life is my favourite hobby...

It was actually 42 hours and I did the usual stuff like txts, voice calls, pushed email notifications, web surfing, using each of the 4 news apps I have installed, the WRC app, AppBrain updates, and tuned my guitar.

I didn't use Google Maps or Navigon. Used the camera, litened to FM radio, played some of my music, used the Engadget app and the MotorTrend app.

That sums it up mostly.

I turned wifi off overnight but when it was on, it was set to sleep when the screen was off. Data remained on all the time. Screen time out is set to 30 seconds, brightness to 40% and 'Auto' ticked.

The low battery warning dialogs appeared at 15% and finally at 5%.

So that's not a bad result I feel. Cool

Cheers,
R2D2

Wow. 60 hours is spec.tac.yoo.lar!!!

I don't think my usage patterns will ever allow the kind of endurance you get, but I think I can say that my use was fairly average for me. If I ever use the nav apps, I always plug the phone into the car charger so I suspect that I should ignore that use because it would actually make a net gain to endurance.
