JPY had the best WiFi and GPS I've experienced on the SGS. But I can live with JVP's modem until something better turns up. A couple more weeks on JVP and I'll be heading for a modded version - whatever is the rocket du jour.

I may have to give JVP modem a flash. My gps hasn't been great with either of the modems I've tried either.

I added the SIP support back into 2.3.4 and I am happy to report it works well with my Xnet VFX account.

How did you add the SIP functionality back in to your install? A different modem/PDA combo? An updated version of your modded firmware?

JVP is slower to lock in GPS than JPY, but JPY was exceptional - I was getting a 6.x second lock inside my office. That's amazingly good for what is generally regarded as a substandard GPS hardware solution in the SGS.

If Sammy or the devs can get back to that level of performance, I will be in raptures. (Not the kind where a deity beams you up, you understand, in case you were wondering).

I didn't find the lock speed too bad but accuracy was down. I was averaging about 30m being the most wayward but now its around 50m out. I do need to do that hardware mod though which will negate any software variance.

fatjoez: I'm on 2.3.3 darky rom 10.1 at the moment
waiting for darky to release 10.2 with 2.3.4

heard it's nice but also heard a lot of bug reports in JVP 2.3.4 personally

Also just switched from the UGKC1 modem to XXJVO so hopefully see some better results on that

same here, im waiting for a darky modified 2.3.4 before i upgrade - Ficeto's base 2.3.4 is a bit too vanilla at the moment.

I upgraded to 2.3.4 last week, with Faryaab's ROM (V6), I see he now has V7 out.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1058814

Over the weekend he put out a SGS II clone for 2.3.4 which I have been using.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129404

So far finding it pretty slick, looks great too. Fastest ROM I have used to date. Getting quadrant scores of 1900+ at 1000MHZ, compared to 900+ on 2.3.3

Would recommend both of these if someone is wanting to give 2.3.4 a try.

I'm using Faryaab's V6 so might upgrade to V7. I'm glad he took my suggestion and added Widget Picker :D

I don't use Touchwiz so don't think theres any point in me trying the SGSII Clone.

I also saw Simply Honey 3.8 based on JVP came out - however the last simply honey 3.6 was a bit of a failure for me.

Previously I had been using Go Launcher and / or Launcher Pro, however, seeing TW was stock, thought I would give it a whirl, it isn't too bad once you get used to it.  Happy to stick with it for the meantime.

Find SH too blue for my liking. I quite like the stock theme and Darky's green.

Your problem seems to be either your Vodafone SIM card is faulty, or else your phone is faulty.

Try using an XT pre-pay card for a few days and if the problem goes away, then you have a faulty Vodafone SIM, in which case, take it back to Vodafone or wherever you bought it and have them replace it.

If the problem doesn't go away, then the phone is faulty. Take it back to wherever you bought it and request a replacement under your warranty.

Good luck whichever way it goes.

agreed with this - i just had a read of the revised SH 3.8 - looks like a terrible mess! my goodness

not sure if i will try the F1 v7, i also looked at Juwes Rom v5 which is also JVP, it looks super tidy... otherwise waiting for a darky 10.2 release...

can anyone tell me, with F1 rom, is the kernel compatible with ext4 as implemented by chainfire?

also, anyone tried speedmod kernel now that it seems to suppport ext4 etc?

Galaxy Note 3 SM-N9005, on Telecom 4G LTE.  ROM: Stock Touchwiz, Android 4.3, XUDMJ6  MODEM: MJ4  Kernel: Stock (for now...:)

Yeah I'm using it with ext4. Not sure what to make of it at this point. Seems I'm having a few miss presses on the touchscreen but I'm unsure if thats the kernels fault.

In sadder news, my Angry birds data backup hasn't been able to make the jump from froyo to gingerbread. So hours of progress lost if I can't find a workaround.

Yes, I believe it is compatible with EXT4.

Man, where do you stop, I think I am upgrading Roms once a week at the moment....the choices are endless and the speed of development is phenomenal.
