Look like you've tried most of the solutions.
What OS are you using?

This is have tried this - this is how I have Kies working on Windows 7 64-bit

- Install latest version of Kies (as of now v1.5.3.10093_82) - it will uninstall older versions
- Disable USB debugging
- Set USB settings to "Samsung Kies" don't use Ask on connection
- Goto home screen of TwLauncher on phone - If you not using TwLauncher (the default launcher) [your using something like LauncherPro etc.], then launch TwLauncher - install Home Switcher if required.
- Plug USB cable directly into PC ie. don't use a USB hub.
- Plug in microUSB cable into phone

Try another PC perhaps?

Wipeout: Holly sh*t! Looks like they starting to roll out the official Froyo! All Scandinavian countries already reporting it's being available for download from Kies. Nothing on mine tho...

Its actually available for download at www.samfirmware.com for those of you who can't wait for it to be available through Kies. This is to be upgraded using Odin.
PS this will however be at your own risk though.

I'll wait.

BTW...a work mate got a brand new Galaxy S he picked up today....and we used them side-by-side...and his phone had NO lag. None.

Ok...he had nothing on his internal storage yet....which may be the reason....but it was interesting to see a virgin, stock Galaxy S working like a dream.....

I had my phone for around a month. Never had those issues reported by many users on XDA forums.

PS. I'm aware of Odin upgrade and the fact that I could have had Froyo already by flashing my phone. I chose not to, because a) I felt there was no need for it, as I don't suffer lag; b) I didn't want to void warranty with official Froyo being around the corner.  :>

BTW, is anyone able to get an update showing in Kies yet? Nothing here. XDA forums peeps are talking about changing registry keys for the actual Kies itself in order to receive the update. Has anyone tried? I'm too chicken. hahahaha...

Will keep you updated, mine is going through the slow update process through Kies at the moment

My friend said he just got 1800 in Froyo though, he says it reads JPM in the settings, so I guess JPM was the official one and that's why the pulled the source code down

oh and this:
Android 2.2 JIT compiler
hopefully they've actually done something with the JIT compiler

Samsung press release is up too!

If anyone is thinking of trying the registry tweak upgrade with Kies as described here:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=809423

I've just done it with a factory reset after upgrading and everything seems to be working fine.  Prior to doing the factory reset it was pretty grumpy but that seems to have sorted it out.

I have successfully updated to Froyo using Kies. It's kind of laggy coming from JM1 with Voodoo though.

Same...finally!!! Took me 2 hours :( slow slow slow at downloading

Have noticed in teh XDA thread now, that some Aussies are getting the official one and others aren't, as in the download server stops responding.

What lag fix are you using, if any?

Haven't noticed too much yet, my GPS has gone from being a little bit off, to way off...but it might just need some small tweaks. My contacts weren't showing up for a little while either, but have finally all come back!

Camera - seems to be way faster at focusing :)

Browser - Flash seems to be working very fast, very pleased

Haven't put on Brut Mods or rooted/lag fixed it yet, but it's going alright so far

Have immediately removed the Daily briefing app, was really surprised to see Samsung have put it back in there...

AllShare is picking up my servers slightly faster

Using the standard Beach wave live wallpaper, because it looks alright, but might download some more soon

Battery life, well can't say much about it yet, it's been going for 1 hour and the bar has slightly moved, will install a few battery apps so I can get a proper reading on it soon

All in all, not too bad, but no where near as fast as 2.1

I have rooted using the SuperOneClick root but haven't installed any lag fixes yet. may need to use OCLF until Voodoo comes out. it's very very laggy with 100 apps

Damn, I don't have the lag issues yet, when I was rudely awoken, then rushed to my PC, I forgot to:
- Backup my messages
- Backup my SD card
- Backup my Apps

I was just too excited that Froyo was here, so pulled ahead with the upgrade...luckily most of the chats and phone numbers were synched

Even with the known issues with these phones would you still recommend them to a friend?
Are you happy with your decision?

Im thinking of buying a Galaxy S but have been hanging back to see how Froyo pans out.
Im a little worried about the gps issue so would like to know if anyones has improved with froyo or other tinkering, its not a deal breaker but i like my features to actually work.

Also, does the DLNA allow streaming to PS3's? (this would be awesome for me)

Is anyone holding off buying a Galaxy because a better phone is on the horizon?

Thanks

Could describe the method you used? Did you use Kies, and, if so, which version? etc. Thanks.

I have latest version of Kies (released this morning), an SGS from Clove UK, unrooted, running JM1. When I connect phone with Kies, it says "latest firmware already installed".

I used the latest version of Kies 1.5.3.100093_82 and did the Registry tweak to make my phone appear as coming from Sweden as I read that europe had Froyo over Kies last night.

The codes I used for registry were:

ProductCode: XEE
HIDSWVER: I9000XXJF3/I9000SWC/I9000XXJF3/I9000XXJF3

All good following that link too.  I went from Froyo JPK to JPM.  Rooted and Battery Mod all done.  Everything back as it was.

Of course I had to go back to an older version of Kies since the new 1093 one's just wont work with Vista (as I reported earlier).  The older version had no problems at all.  I'll keep this version.  It doesn't seem to matter it's an old.

Nice to do the FW upgrade through Kies (albeit fudging the Regedit to get it to pick up an upgrade), but Odin would have been way quicker ;-)
