deepak.prasad: Updated my vodafone purchased SGS to Froyo this morning. This was what I did (don't guarantee that this will work for all, but as an FYI to all):
- Used Kies Registry Patcher as instructed earlier. For the product code I used CPW which spoofed UK as the origin and spoofed software revision as: I9000XXJM1/I9000OXAJM1/I9000XXJM1/I9000XXJM1.
- Ensured no lag fixes were installed previously as well as running the Samsung launcher (instead of Launcher Pro).
- Checked for an update and sure enough there was one available for the above product code. I tried several previously and found this one working, so went for it.
The update took around 15 minutes in total. At the end, the reboot showed the logo screen for an additional 5 minutes or so. I left it there, sweating it out, until the main screen came up.
No apps or data was lost via the update (even though I was prepared to start again from scratch).
After the update:
- Reset all my widgets on my homescreen (not reinstall).
- Then I used z4root to one click root the SGS.
- Downloaded and ran the ONLF (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=760571) to apply the lag fix to the SGS.
- Reran AdFree to re-update the hosts file.
Running the Quadrant benchmark tool resulted in the phone scoring over 2000 marks.
The only other thing I had to check was to run any applications that required root access again as they needed permissions set against them again.
Been working since this morning and am happy with the update :)
when you run the ONLF lag fix how long does it take to reboot? mine is taking ages and just vibrates every now and then, is this normal?? i'm getting rather worried now as it's been about 10mins
what do I do now to fix it ?
