Similar thoughts. Not just because of budget, it *should* be priced around$450. At $550 it's dangerously close to an imported HTC Desire.

And I'll probably wait a 2.3 update to be released.

It is close to a Desire, however the Desire is now a year old, and has a much weaker graphics subsystem.

Has anyone found any 3rd party accessories for this yet? Or know of a place you can buy a universal screen protector big enough for the whole front face?

Enjoying it very much so far, the screen is a pleasure to use and look at. Battery life is very short in my experience, but i am still optimizing my use of it

My friend just bought one of these in the weekend. It looks and feels quite nice, pretty snappy interface too.

If you bought it while on holiday in AU you could probably get 10% VAT refund too.

Ask at the shop if they can do VAT refund. I can't remember if you need to show your passport, or flight details to the shop, but it would pay to have those details with you. Only some shops can do it, when I was in Melbourne a lot of the clothing shops were happy to do VAT refunds. There is a minimun purchase amount, but i think $349 is over that limit, check the australian vat refund scheme website for details, they also list shops that do refunds.

Yes, it's called the Tourist Refund Scheme - you can claim back the 10% GST when you leave as long as you have the item with you and proof of purchase. After the GST is removed it'll come to AU$317.27, which is about NZ$430
