Kilack:
I cant remember who delivered it locally actually but I remember the "Tracking" was non existant.
It arrived at my house and it wasn't until a few days later that the tracking was updated to say delivered
You won't get any tracking at all apart from to say its left the UK.

Yeah that's right, with AirSure, once it enters NZ it gets assigned an NZ tracking number, I only found that out last time by calling NZ Post after wondering where my parcel was.  It goes from the LY to a different NZ number on entry

ArtooDetoo: I don't think anyone doubts that the iPhone will continue to increase sales, irrespective of the rumoured delay of the iP5, and if Android weren't the flavour du jour, Apple would own the smartphone market. But thankfully for the consumer, Android is gaining momentum and you're right that Apple's decision to launch iP5 later (September appears likely), will mean a longer period of folk holding off buying prior to iP5's release.

Interestingly, even though they've sold millions of devices, Apple's market penetration has remained fairly static over the last year or so. Even the release of the Verizon iPhone didn't really make much difference. I get the feeling that the vast majority of sales of new iOS devices are to owners of older iOS devices, not to new customers.

While I don't have any solid evidence to support this, I do have some anecdotal evidence. I work at a mid-sized tech company, so we've got a fairly high proportion of smartphone users. Of the people who have an iPhone 4, almost all of them upgraded from an iPhone 3G or 3GS. Only a couple of people bought the iPhone 4 to replace something else. Compare that to about 7 or 8 Android phones bought during the same period, which have replaced everything from dumb phones to Symbian devices and Blackberries.

K1000716: I'm quite sure you're not the only one pacing anxiously. Now that I'm a stay-at-home dad/student I'll be jumping at the sound of any vehicle pulling up outside from Monday next week. After having three kids I thought I had awesome patience - I was so wrong...

Every time I get a new email notification, I check to see if it's from Mobicity. Sadly, most of the time it's just letting me know there's a reply to this thread. (I'm normally quite patient, but when it comes to tech toys I just can't help myself!)

For those waiting impatiently for theirs:

If your phone is Rooted, install Market Enabler and set your carrier to a US one, download the app called Parcels. I have it set to poll hourly on the status of several incoming packages I have, its brilliant - you get a notification and alert tone whenever changes in shipping status are detected. Helps keep me from sitting here hitting F5 on the tracking page all day long (seriously, my fingers would be bloody from repeating the motion ad nauseum for days on end).

NZtechfreak, sounds to me like you need to get a hobby! I can't imagine requiring hourly updates except perhaps on the day it's expected :)

Ambrose_1: I had a little bit of a problem with my ID to clove, I used a new credit card I haven't got a statement for, so I sent them an old one with my address on it, which they emailed me back about, after I explained the situation to them I emailed them a scan of my drivers license, which also has my address on it and that was fine. I was a little surprised I had to do it again since I brought my desire off them, almost a exactly a year ago from the some login.

Royal Mails tracking isn't really as specific as FedEx I noticed, just says it is being processed for delivery abroad. Don't know if that means its being processed to leave the UK or its already left, the former I would think.

ancalag0n: Mines on it's way from Clove as well, via Airsure Tracked Mail Cool

Incidentally the HTC Desire S that my partner ordered from Clove via Airsure Tracked Mail arrived yesterday and she wasn't stung GST (just saying).

How was that delivered locally? DHL/NZ post Courier?

Our experience was as follows:
1. Tracking number provided by Clove at night NZT
2. A day later Airsure Tracking updated to say "We have received your item, posted on XX/XX/XX and it is being processed for delivery abroad."
3. A day later again Airsure Tracking updated to say something like "Your item has been handed over for delivery in New Zealand"
4. We then had to wait 2 days before we could search on the NZ Post trackntrace site using the Airsure tracking number. The status at that point said "Arrived in New Zealand"
5. A day later is was delivered via NZ Post Courier. "Delivery Complete" on
6. It took 6-7 days to arrive.

All this was done using the Airsure provided tracking number, it was how ever stickered with an NZ Post Courier tracking number (which we never knew) which was different to the Airsure number.

I admit, the tracking isn't supperb, but it arrived and she missed being charged GST.

Judging by the growth of this thread, the original Galaxy S version is in for some serious competition. At this rate, it'll be at 50 pages by Wenesday.

What will Mauricio think of that, I wonder? :D

Post on, Androiders, and prosper.

Cheers,
R2D2

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner. HTC Sensation has gone to its new
owner. Galaxy S3 has gone to its new owner. Now using Galaxy Note 3. Skipping Note 4 I think...

haha, I always pay GST on everything :(

Think my name must be in the system

Have you got a customs reference?  If not, best to ring DHL and get one now, otherwise their customs brokers seriously take about 7 days to get their stuff sorted

Probably just lucky. Every time I've had something come in via DHL, I've been stung for GST.

DHL's customs brokers aren't always slow. If you keep checking with them every afternoon, you should be able to pay GST via credit card the same day that the package clears customs. In one day I've manged to find that customs was cleared, pay the GST, and pick the package up from the Airport.

Latest Mobicity update:

First batch of Samsung Galaxy S2 shipping now, up to order 100027971 (AU) & 200002180 (NZ) and tracking details will be emailed tomorrow morning. Given the size of the courier pick up, it's possible that not all will make the cut off and start moving today. Please check your tracking for updates when you receive it tomorrow. More are shipping tomorrow; we'll send another update once details are confirmed, thanks!

Pretty happy with that as that includes my order. Smile
