hey guys...

long time i shared something.. the SGS2 has been going good in the last few days. Just some issues happening lately in the last 3 days.

Got a few wierd things:

1. Once the battery was at 42% phone working fine and all, was doing something and had one random reboot. After phone booted up, the battery % was 16!!!    Saw a little while later, was 19... and kept on increasing up to 24 slowly, charger wasnt plugged in, until I decided to pull the battery and let it rest for a while. That was 3 random reboots just in 2 days. Never had that before.

Had a wierd crash while using widgetlocker and somehow I have never got it to run properly.

Using Alarm clock Xtreme (app) sometimes, you set an alarm for whole week, sometimes when you clear the RAM through task manager, the alarm goes away and doesnt sound the next morning or sometimes it stays unaffected. Pretty strange!

Running Litening 2.2 with no other mods/kernel added. Just basic (stock) Litening 2.2 KG1

And now suddenly, phones stays in awake state most of the night while I am asleep! (irony) Have uninstalled almost all apps I installed in last 3 days still this is happening. Battery life with my usage was 2 days previously.

Have installed better batterystats and watchdog lite but doesnt look like I am either reading the right things or I dont know how to use (read) it. Anybody could help me on this?

Cheers

Small series looking at accessories to extend your battery life, first two parts live now.

Mugen Extended Battery review for the SGSII (if you need an extended battery its exceptional). Some better pictures to follow, those ones taken at night in order to get review out there.

Proporta USB TurboCharger 5000 review - great option if you're after an external charging solution that is portable.

One more part to follow!

Appreciate all you're posting on the battery options. I'm loving my new phone, have had it a week so far and I still stand by my earlier impression that the Internet seems 'faster'. I think it may be the rendering engine or something rather than my connection to 2degrees being better.

If you're referring to the browser its definitely faster - the dual cores are used (one for scripts, one for page rendering), its hardware accelerated, and of course its supports faster data transfer speeds than lots of other phones.

Glad to hear you're happy with the phone, after advising you so strongly to take it over the Sensation I would feel a certain culpability if you weren't getting on with it!

Have you found a case/bumper that works with it?  That's my only problem with the extended batteries at the moment. I'v ordered this to see if it'll work, but there isn't a great selection at the moment.

I never use cases on my phones, but I don't imagine there are any out there that would accommodate extended batteries (Mugen themselves don't make one).

Anyone know what causes the gps to randomly turn on while the screen is off?

I've noticed recently that the gps turns on when I'm not using the phone, like when driving, it's only momentary but I don't use latitude and google maps isn't open etc

Re-Extended Battery Case.I bought one off trademe, battery basically looks like 2 standard batteries stuck together, and it came with a back case to make it fit.Fairly ugly, but it works! Also I use Juice Defender Ultimate from the Market, seems to add a bit of life to my S2.

At $39.95 the seller is making a huge profit. That's the battery I bought about a week and a half ago for $13...

Good luck to the seller on making a profit!
As a matter of interest,I see they've got the MHL adaptors on TradeMe for $100,a bit more than I was prepared to pay.I'll have to stick to AllShare for a while.

To be honest, the battery is worth it. My initial concern when I bought one was that it was too cheap, so surely couldn't be any good... After a week and a half I'm certainly not complaining though.

$100? Even though Expansys have the oem version for $47 and aftermarket for $28? Hell. I hope people do their homework before buying! Although I now notice Expansys don't have stock...

Is it normal for apps to vanish from your app drawer to vanish if you have frozen them through titanium backup? the icons were there after freezing and then checked again they are gone. ofcourse they are back if i unfreeze the app but just to confirm whether this is normal?

As with my above post, suddenly battery life was low and checked phone is awake most of times in the night. Also, the RAM used to between 300-499 used, since the issue has constantly stayed between 5-600 MB...

regarding titanium backup and app icons, yes happens to me too, once I freeze something it takes a couple of seconds to vanish.

and random guess there might be some app/service running in background preventing phone going to deep sleep.
