networkn: What's the current recommendation on a great solid fast ROM? I was on one great one and the author disappeared, and then I moved to DlevROM and that guy seems to have halted development.

Any word on when a working ICS ROM will be out?

I flashed Darky HD XXKL1 and it seems very snappy, to soon to tell on battery but Darky is usually pretty good. You get the Darky OTA app which makes flashing differant themes etc very easy.

toii: Is there anyone in the Auckland area that has a USB jig that I could borrow?  I would like to remove that silly yellow warning triangle on the boot screen :p

I'm in Auckland so if someone hasn't already sent you one let me know and you can use mine.

I've been following this thread for quite a while now and hopefully someone will be able to help. I've bought a S2 from Parralel Imported about four months ago. I've been using Siyah Kernel and DarkROM and have just gotten back from Fiji. Now, while over there, for no apparent reason, the phone started overheating. I switched it off, and tried to restart it and it would get to the first screen and freeze. It would go no further. I was able to get it into Download Mode, but since I was in Fiji, couldn't do anything further. I couldn't get it into Recovery Mode. Now, when I got back today, I was able to start the phone and got to my homescreens, but then the phone switched itself off. I am now not even able to charge the phone, and can't get it into Download Mode? The battery indicator comes up, but it will not charge up.

Sorry about the long post, but I'm desperate  for ideas.

Thanks.

certainly no expert but had similar issue with my last phone, a Captivate, was issue with circuit board and unfix able although I could use it if I removed battery and charged in a charger. Have you checked and cleaned USB port as they are prone to dirt?.

It may be Rom related and therefore a USB jig may get you into download but I'm sure there are others with better advice but if you need a jig let me know I have one.

Thanks for the feedback. Have tried cleaning the usb port, but no luck.

Don't have a spare battery but that's what my train of thought was as well.

Is it possible you've somehow inadvertantly overclocked/volted it?

Flash it back to stock rom as soon as you can get it into download mode.

It may also be a faulty battery.

Have any of you guys tried the recently leaked KP8 ICS rom?

I am a little wary as others have reported instability.

It's not to bad, definitely unstable ( crash every few days ), I dumped touchwiz as it was blanking & went with Nova

It really needs the full ICS theme though.

Nah, not worth it IMO - I'm really keen to get my hands on a stable release, but I hate the stock Samsung theme they've put on it (horrible gaudy menu's etc), and the KP8 is barely a beta-quality release.

FWIW though, the KP8 modem is great; fantastic battery life, and fast 3G speeds too.

I'm using it.  Have been for several days now.  I've only had one ramdom reboot.  When you reboot (voluntary or involuntary) you have to grant SU permissions to your apps again.

I also found that my contacts were empty. Despite that, the swipe action to call a contact did still work.  However this morning I've gone back to my contacts (after confirming I hadn't accidentally frozen it) and they contacts are there.

I quite like ICS, espeically being able to Google Talk from two accounts.
