I'm not sure where you got your phone from but Intratech's thread here has all the carrier branded firmware you'll ever need and his official firmware thread is here. One of the two threads will have exactly what you're after.

Lee

Yes I know about this thread but all the firmwares in Intratech's threads are for ODIN and as I said in my post, I get no USB connectivity hence why I asked if someone had a link to CWM stock roms.

I was thinking of mobile odin - does that not work for you either? I haven't tried it so am not sure if it'll work with an external sd card, but surely you can put the file on your external card then transfer it to the internal memory - then flash.

I'm sure you'll keep us updated, I have never had a reason to try the mobile odin yet so it'll be good to see how it goes. Not that you're a guinea pig or anything... ;)

adamvnz: Note for the ICS remix users v8.0 is out and running smooth

That sounds promising.  How long have you been running it?  Did you restore any of your apps or download them from the market.

Any random reboots, FC occuring yet?  Cheers

I've been  running it since last night 1am'ish. had only 1 reboot after shifting a folder from the external sd card to the internal one.
Had to restore all my apps.
Anyway v8.1 will be out very soon. So may pay to wait till then if you want to try.
I will be trying it and hopefully can give a more full report.

I've been running 8.1 for nearly 5 hours and it's going very well. It's now running more AOSP apps and looks and works great. He'll tweak it further over the next week, but even now it's worth trying.
The install script automatically wipes everything so don't forget to back up apps/data first.

I've installed over 100 apps and nearly 3000 sms's (really must delete some...) and have had no FC's or reboots at all so far.

Here's the link for anyone interested. ;)

Hello my dear fellow galaxy s2 owners, what modem version for 2degrees do you suggest? I have tried KI3, KL1, KPA and they all drained battery, currently using KP1 and so far so good, anyone else using a different modem and not draining battery on 2degrees network?

No specific recommendations from me sorry, I'm on XT. However, the later modems seem to have sacrificed performance for range. I now get double the wifi range using KL1 and later modems, much better for me so I live with it. Also, marginal reception areas eat batteries - could that be your problem?

joker97: hey guys has anyone got any issues with swype?
...
but on my sgs2 swype 3.8.86.28077 i spend more time correcting my typing than actually typing!!!
this came with dlev 3.1 rom and i've had it for a 1 - 2 months. drives me nuts. i dont remember that much issue before.

setting to 100% left ie fastest but set to 100% right error tolerance is just the same.

1) doesnt pick up the words i actually swyped on. gives you the dumbest option/combination

2) doesnt pick up the letters i type (good chance of getting a random adjacent one can be up down left or right but usually left or right)

I had a few issues with the Swype on that rom, but not as a bad as you're experiencing.  I found having the setting to the left (fastest) was the best, as it'd less often offer completely wrong choices.

I've since upgraded to CheckRom V4 and the new Swype 3.25.91....OXX seems better.
Make sure you're "teaching" Swype what words you want: When they're not highlighted in green (ie. not the one Swype's about to use), select the right word. If Swype then offers to add it to the dictionary then it means that Swype never remembered that word.  By adding words to the dictionary that I use but Swype always got wrong, I've found Swype becomes far more accurate for me.

Recommendation for anyone thinking of moving to CheckRom and would like to retain some user data:

While still on your old ROM, install the KitchenPro app from the front page of the CheckRom thread.  It enables you to backup a pile of user data that you might find useful on the new ROM, then once you're onto CheckROM you can restore them all and have more of your settings preserved.

Backups are offered (optionally) for:
Contacts
Calendar
SMS/MMS
Call logs
Wifi Access Points
Custom Mobile APNs
Sync accounts

Run KitchenPro, Settings, More, Backup User Data.

Using KP1, very battery friendly.

Horrible experience with 7.3 (think due to the kernel). Installing 8.1 right now.. Feedback seems mixed with some complaining of lag.. Fingers crossed im not one of those with the lag lol

Format /system in CWM and (without re-booting) re-flash the zip file.

Don't restore any titanium backups either.

Thanks Brendan. Tried that also and no go either. At a loss to understand why it won't connect, it tries to authenticate though. 8.1 (raw with no backups restored) seemed to have some lag for me. I then tried WanamLite and my wifi did connect but was really patchy. The rom itself though seemed to perform with less lag than remix.

Restored my Nandroid and back to perfect wifi

Am now on Bezke and have the smoothest experience so far but again wifi authenticates and won't connect.. this is driving me nuts!

Will try a router reboot.. If I can get the wifi working, this will be my daily driver.

Edit: Knocked the bastard off! (wifi anyway). Reflashed, then did a reset via CWM. Connected immediately.. phew.. Okay restoring applications time...

Is it okay to restore via gb titanium backup, or is it best to reinstall fresh into ics?
