cokeman2: just installed the official ICS . battery life seems questionable , gallery not updated nor the camera :( ...but like the data usage meter ..runs smooth enough thou .....

any one else having double/duplicate messages sent on GO sms pro ?

Yes, I am having duplicates. I stopped using go sms pro for now.

Did you try freezing the message app?

No. Does that work?

It might! I haven't caught up yet installing ICS. But I have found that freezing message stops getting #unread massages notification every time you restart the phone. So it most likely will stop double messages

I'm back to revolution 6. Tried the new ICS and I think it's nice, but I think I'll wait for the custom rom chefs to make it great. I want a good custom kernel, call recording, etc.

I'm using Wanamlite ICS 9.3 and it's been going well. I'd comment on the battery life which has been pretty good with his earlier versions, but I left Real Football on by accident and drained it all in about an hour :(

The XXLPQ XEO (Poland) release can be installed on a phone without it being rooted, and it won't root the phone either. You install it using Odin, which is Samsung's service centre tool for flashing firmware.

There's a great thread on XDA that will give you all you need. It contains a flashing guide, a link to download Odin, and a link to download the XXLPQ firmware.

tried resurrection remix 9.6 ... spent a grand total of 5 mins restoring, playing with features ... and zzzzzip -> back to dlev 3.1/siyah 9.6/2.3.5 !!!

so restrictive compared to the custom hacked chef cooked special roms of old!

i can see how a stock rom user will absolutely love it, but i've lost all my personalisation :(

Involuntary autocorrect in operation on mobile device. Apologies in advance.

I love how the entire internet is suddenly finding how how big a deal ICS on the SGS2 isn't. Did they really expect Samsung to ditch Touchwiz and confuse the vast majority of their customers by suddenly giving them a different UI?

Months of whining of "why don't we have ICS yet?" and now it's "ICS isn't as amazing as I expected, wahh!".

I totally agree, stick to custom 2.3.x firmware until decent 4.0.x kernels are available to actually make it perform. I use 3rd party launchers, dialers and SMS apps so I never see any of the Touchwiz stuff even though I'm on a "stock" firmware.

Completely agree - I'm not even considering a shift to ICS until the prominent kernel devs get their hands on the source code, and JKay does a release also. . . . .I'm too used to 'having it my way' to go back to someone else vision.

never heard of such a model. looks like galaxy nexus specs mixed with S2 visual.

All of the USA variants are 800 x 400. BS maybe? Or has someone got the specs messed up?

Hi There,

I currently have an ageing galaxy i9000 which im looking at upgrading.

One big question i have is, Does the galaxy S2 have any of the lagging issues that the I9000 has ?
That is my main gripe with the i9000 (that and i want more speed)

Would appreciate any feedback you Galaxy s2 owners have.

Cheers

My feedback would be, wait till tomorrow.  There should be some announcements coming out from Samsung, hopefully about the future of the Galaxy S2 and 3. Might be a high res variant this year?

Has none of the lagging issues at all.   I have both too.  The i9000 even with the lag fix, is slower at changing screens than the GS2
