Foo: Is Chomp a SMS app?

I'm still with stock, guess I'm just waiting for a bug fix update or an updated version of Handcent. Will also give Go SMS a try sometime this week.

Yes.
After Kelem mentioned it I gave it a try. It's actually pretty good, although to be honest I was quite happy with the stock app (it sent and received messages, what more did I want?). I've got mine themed now and am pretty happy with it.
I tried GO SMS a couple of days ago and still had the message bug (on ics), but Chomp is fine.

Neets: I've also jumped across to Omega 6.0.  And now I remember that I always found the icons a little flamboyant for my likes.  Will have to wait till I get home to wifi to see if the Kitchen app might offer up some "dulled down" icons.  Nova wouldn't respond after a little while. Hopefully "fix permissions" has dealt to that now.

There's always the ICS themed version, it's what I've been using lately. There are no "dulled down" icon options though, Just stock, ics or black/blue themes.
I haven't used Nova for a long time now, Apex won me over and works nicely with V6.0.

I am really tempted to try Omega, but I have this slight aversion to ROMS made outside the "original android development" threads, plus CheckROM have said they aren't releasing a ICS yet because there are too many bugs in the currently released sources. LP3 apparently also has a number of issues.

How are Omega users here finding the battery life? How many apps didn't move? Do you guys titanium backup your apps, or just reinstall them as required?

Ahhh, Handcent 4.0 (non beta) is out and no prizes for guessing what issue it resolves! :-)

Thanks for that. I thought I'd tried Apex before and was put off because you couldn't customise the icons in the dock but I see you can.  2nd flash of the day, and on Omega v6.0 ICS theme.
Downloaded the latest Handcent and now customising Apex.
Life is good!

networkn: d3x: so was it difficult to install? How many of your apps didn't work?

Not at all. In fact, installation was straightforward (just had to wipe and flash from CWM). All my apps are working - 150 of them! Have a few games that install to SDcard and they worked fine too. MTP and USB storage is also working great.

Damager: havent tried siyah on omega yet.. consensus is siyah is great on omega it seems??

Yeah, its one of the few ROMs on which the new Siyah works great. And just wait till you see the new CWM recovery, it'll blow your socks off!

Actually Omega *is* a part of the Original Android Development section. ;)
Battery life is comparable to other ICS ROMs out there. I can't give you any numbers though as I'm almost always next to a power source. :P

I just use Titanium to backup/restore my apps, no issues at all (except for Opera Mobile). I don't restore *every* app though. When I'm trying out a new ROM I first manually restore only the bare essential apps I use, then slowly get my apps back as and when needed. That way I don't end up cluttering my system.

I'm really liking the Omega ROM, but I find that Google+ crashes and stalls the whole system ALL THE TIME. -_-'

Haha yeah that's me! I actually really like G+. It's a great ... application? Thing?

Nah I haven't posted yet, I figure I should just uninstall/reinstall it and see if that helps. :P

Active G+ user here, have no issues with it on Omega. Perhaps you should try turning off contact sync and/or Instant Upload. Also, is it a themed G+ app, like the black themed one? I'm using Omega stock so my G+ isn't themed. (I ask this because I've heard people using the themed app having issues, especially when they update to a newer version of G+).

Also, try clearing the application data for G+, and you could also try fixing the permissions from recovery.

I've been running Siyah beta 5 for a while, and it's pretty stable with WanamLite v9.8.

I'm also interested to see what the next NEAK kernel brings. I know it's in development, but simone201 is having a little trouble getting touch-based CWM to work. It's obviously working on Siyah, so he asked gokhanmoral for some help, but gokhanmoral straight-out refused. Not exactly the attitude you expect between Android kernel developers.

That's a real shame - they've collaborated before on developments, and Simone has always given credit where due etc.

Hmm, that is a bit shocking. Perhaps there's more to it than what meets the eye.

Anyways, Siyah beta 7 has been released today! I'm running it now and it seems to have shaved 1-2 seconds off my cold-boot time. :)

I see the Siyah I am running in GB has a dual boot option, anyone know if that has been implemented yet in ICS versions?

Not yet. He's working on it though.
