Brendan: But before you do, do a factory reset and wipe the dalvik and cache partitions from within cwm.

It's becoming less of a requirement to clear these manually. ROM developers know that out needs to be done, and build the wipe process onto their ROM install scripts. I can verify that the WanamLite script does clear both cache and Dalvik cache.

WanamLite install instructions still recommended to do a wipe if coming from a different or stock ROM.

Also I could only find the NOWIPE ROMS, not that I looked very hard though.

You do the wipe in cwm, from a menu.

I actually use a script that formats the system partition also, as I use root apps all the time. Easy way to make sure you are getting rid of any stupid rubbish left behind in the system partition (which doesn't get formatted normally). Bit better than just formatting (wiping) the cache and data partitions as a wipe does.

You better make sure you install a kernel or ROM before you leave cwm after formatting the system partition though - or you could brick your phone...

Yes my Battery Arrived TODAY!!  Cool It will be handy over Easter break..
Sorry @Neets maybe yours will come soon or today Wink

Yesterday I was annoyed at my standard bat as it was only 5pm and I was already getting the bellow 20% warning. And it did have some short charges in car and off usb earlier  that day.

So here is hoping a less stress battery weekend.

Mine arrived.  It's being fully charged right now. Very glad it was partially charge.  Very happy with the fit of the back cover.  My original appeared like it had a slight bulge on the side yet there was nothing there.  This one fits snug all round.  Very happy camper.

I have a screen cover which has the same protective film all the way round.  Have been meaning to ditch it. Now the back cover doesn't have the film I think it's time to bite the bullet.  I'm in two minds about removing the screen cover though.  [gulp].  Hope nomiss7 has also received his kit.

I made the not so sensible choice of getting it sent to home, so fingers crossed it will be waiting for me after work Smile

Hopefully they don't require it signed, else you might be waiting a bit longer.

Trying to find a case to replace my OtterBox Commuter now. Doesn't seem to be easy to find something that looks good, fits well and gives the protection of the OtterBox (which is now just too tight and puts pressure on the power/volume buttons).

Mine slips into the leather pouch without any additional resistance.  So happy! [skips around the room]

Not sure what everyone's choice is for text input.  But SwiftKey has a Beta version out that allows you to type without needing to add in the space.  It adds it in for you.  I've found it to be really good.  Only time it didn't work is when I typed (minus quotes) "Easterbunny".  It didn't put a space in.

My preference had been Swype, which I switched back to after a long spell of using SwiftKey.  But I'm happy to keep this going as I'm enjoying the experience so much.

You can download the apk file from here.  Hopefully you don't need to sign into the "VIP" programme to access the link.

@BigHammer
Have you tried using the otterbox case without the battery cover? The new battery cover adds 1-1.5mm extra thickness. Removing mine made all the difference. All my old covers fit perfectly without it now.

@Neets
You've really gotten into the holiday spirits haven't you? Skipping around the room scoffing hot cross buns!

Does anyone have a good call recording app that works well with the S2? I want to get something that I know I can use on other phones later and don't want to reply on the feature being baked-in to roms. I'm wanting to trial (near) stock, ics-themed roms for a little while, but find it too useful for recording phone interviews with tutors (always with permission of course).

Adriatica have run out of batteries and covers dammit, knew i should have ordered earlier.

I removed mt screen protector before xmass and have no noticeable marks on it and it sure improves the display quality. Think we can be a bit over protective sometimes and by buying all the suggested gear we lose some of the benefits of such a great phone, my opnion.

Have to say still not overly impressed with ICS battery life as I'm not running or doing anything differant that I was on GB, maybe all the eye candy has a trade off.

Someone is at home so "should" be OK. I'm really hoping for today though, otherwise it'll be Tuesday before it's delivered Frown

My S2 screen has several scratches, luckily not impairing it too badly though. I found the SGP Steinheil Ultra  Oleophobic screen protectors to be the best (IMHO). Unfortunately after I'd destroyed two sets (over about 8 months use) I didn't replace them and then scratched the screen... They feel very similar to the stock screen, with perhaps a tiny bit more drag, and are very easy to install - not like the bubble covered disasters you see with so many (i)phones on the street. I'd highly recommend them, and would be using them myself again - if not for the fact that it won't really matter any more...

Not only that, I've just realised I can now put my phone on "auto brightness".  Crikey!  That thing is so bright I'm going to need some time adjusting.

I've got more hot cross buns. Can't give them away at the mo.  And I bought Cream Eggs for my team but having a hard time giving those away too.

Jeffnz, pooh, what a shame they don't have more.  Rotten luck.
nomiss7 - glad to hear it.  You could of course ring home to see if it's been delivered ;-)  I'd do that to put myself out of my misery.
Lee - sorry, no suggestions I'm afraid.  It's not something I've looked at before.  And I think it was BigHammer that was having difficulty with the case not Brendan.  Could be wrong, wouldn't be the first (or last).

I only started using auto brightness a month or so ago. It's not always super-responsive but I actually like it. I used to keep it off to try saving battery and kept the screen on it's lowest setting.

You're right, it was BigHammer, I got mixed up with all the posts! I've corrected it - thanks. :)

I looked at the idea of leaving the back cover off last night, and I'm not overly keen to go down that path. I'm not convinced the OtterBox will stop dust from getting into the phone. Will look at modifying the OtterBox to fit the new dimensions instead.

Have admired the Otterbox defender series for along time, seeing as they don't make one for the SGII i have constantly been on the look out for an alternative.

Kraken AMS series from trident turned up today from Amazon, fitted looks good. looks robust adds a good chunk of weight to the phone, will help with all the dusty & grotty places i find myself working in.
