jpanwala: Hey guys, sorry for missing this info if posted here, has anybody experienced the beautiful default weather widget gets smaller if you remove it and want to read it again??

This is my first droid.. maybe there is something i have missed but if someone could tell me how to get it back, that would be very helpful!

Cheers?

Hold down the widget till the delete option comes up then release without moving it, you should then be able to drag the bottom right corner to resise it.

Hey thanks mate, that brings it back to normal...

Having real difficulty connecting it to my macbook pro for transferring photos.

Kies Air shows me the pics, but when I hit download, it asks me to install Java; funny as I am running the latest one on the macbook!

Bluetooth wont transfer any data even they are paired together, seems like they just don't "talk"... says "could not send" on the galaxy s2

USB mode acting weird as well. No external drive appears upon connection (not sure if that should be the case) nor do any photos appear in iPhoto; it does detect the phone but says "no photos"

Do I need something else to make it work?

You should be able to just set USB storage to on (in Settings/wireless networks/USB utilities).
Plug it into your Macbook Pro and it will show up as external storage and an SD card as a mounted device.
(I renamed them to "phone" and "SD Card" to help with the confusion of what your copying too or from.

hey mate, tried that, does not work. gives no option to set it to ON.

could you also please elaborate about the renaming? where is that to be done? Mine just shows phone memory and usb storage memory. SD card is not present.

Are you sure there is no option to switch it on?
Click enable and then it will tell you to plug in the USB cable and then goes to a screen that you can press the enable usb storage, and then they should show up in the finder on the mac.

And you need to be able to see the mounted drives on the mac before you can rename them. If you have an SD card it will show up on the mac as two separate removable devices, exactly the same as a pen drive or external hard drive will.

My MHL cable is waiting for me at home, its from the consortium and not an official Samsung one (but should still work since this is meant to be a standard connection). Long day at work ahead of me!

One of the guys at the Wellington JB HiFi reckons they're expecting stock of the SGS2 on June 15th. Pricing currently unknown, he estimates $1000-$1200, but presumably Vodafone will be dictating that.

Yeah that gels with the rumours I've been hearing too - some people are speculating around $900, but I think that's too light for a premium device - I'm thinking $1199

Presumably there will be handset price reductions based on signing up to a Smart Plan with Vodafone?

More likely they may charge more like 1299 and a plan

Hard to tweak in what way?  Do you have reason to believe the Vodafone SGS2 will have a carrier-specific ROM on it or something?  Not that it matter to me, because I'll be flashing something custom ASAP anyway. . . .

What're odds of them being SIM locked to VF?

Hopefully it wouldn't be too much of a task to put a generic non-VF firmware onto it.

I dont think SIM lock is normal Vodafone practice.

Vodafone does disbale the download mode what i found out on my galaxy s. The S2 I have is the international version and it was all sweet. If you can get past that with the vodafone device you are all good.

Yeah that whole disable download thing is weird - my SGS is a genuine Vodafone one bought from Noel Leeming in October last year, and download worked perfectly. . . .

Disrespective:
kiwitrc: Anyone figured out how to change the garish unlock screen without root?
No, I was pushed to root as I hated the lock screen. However now I'm using widget locker and it's nice except double pressing the home button seems to unlock the device. I've sent a bug report so it should be fixed soon.

Nope, not a bug - you need to set it up right. I will find the instructions I used later.

For now:
Got my prototype adapter from the MHL consortium - working perfectly with my SGSII. Like the Samsung adapter only works with a power supply connected. Video proof to follow later!
