Running the config in my sig below (underclocked & undervolted) and still getting 3000+ on Quadrant (FWIW) - I have to say the new Ninphetamine kernel does feel a lot more responsive, especially when unlocking (Ripple Unlock is a great lockscreen replacement BTW!)

How do you find SetCPU's voltage controls? Does it support GPU overclocking yet?

I'm running Tegrak (not on cognition) and am 125mv undervolted on everything under 1200MHz.

No sign of GPU O/C'ing yet (I just purchased the latest version), but I don't really game, or do anything GPU-intensive so it doesn't bother me.  I'm content to have a good balance of battery life and performance, so will keep fiddling until I get it just right!

I've overclocked to 1300MHz (1300mV) but all others are undervolted and it's running ondemand. GPU is overclocked to 400MHz/1100mV and 200MHz/750mV. Great for the occasional gaming sessions and it has no real effect on battery life otherwise. As an added bonus it gets no warmer than normal. ;)

Still tempted to go back to Cog. Unfortunately the only time I tried it (v1.13) I found my touchscreen turned to crap... Rather than mess around trying to find a fix I went back to SkyRom 2.1 (now that the dev has removed the easter egg pic for me...). I managed to get 4.5 hours on standby overnight (wifi off, gps and bluetooth off) with no drop in battery. Best I've managed yet! :)

It half-loaded for me; brought up all the links, but not all the pictures?  Other sites loaded fine though.

A quick question/opinion: I fully enjoy my S2 as it is. Mainly use it for text, call, lot of internet and email, GPS, games, videos and music.
The phone does everything I want and is not rooted.

Only worry is the battery life, doesn't last more than a day if I do bit of doodle jump, Asphalt and gps. So far I get no crashes, no errors and everything is plain smooth. As the old saying goes 'don't fix something not broken' I was thinking on installing custom rom but do you think I will gain a lot from rooting? (overseas phone and no warranty..)

On quick googling there seems to be bit of crashes, errors, need to re install rom, flash again etc for people who chose to turn into dark side..

Would you say the benefits of rooting outweighs the hassle comes with it?

There's no hassle with rooting/flashing firmware - unfortunately, forums like XDA are full of people who don't follow best-practice, or who's grasp of english isn't great and mis-understand things.  For every person who tries to flash kernel A over firmware B when the instructions clearly say not to, there are probably 100 who have no trouble.

I had a wee shocker with my SGS not long after I got it (November last year), but I can honestly say I've never had a problem since with any phone I've flashed.

If you want the best of both worlds, which is keeping the look/feel of your phone as you're used to, I'd suggest you do the following:

- Root your phone
- Buy Titanium Backup
- Use TB to freeze any apps/widgets than are known battery-eaters (there are quite a few!)

The battery drain will be an ongoing issue until the official VFNZ 2.3.4 is released.

I doubt it - probably just a site-specific issue for mobile users.

Try it in the morning.

nofam - thanks for that reply.

Yep totally agreed. I'm an ex htc sense person and still miss the UI but launcher pro is almost trying to fill the gap.

Might give rooting a go, I read over the instructions but there are a huge number of different versions to choose from - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 - so gettign a little confused.

Hell yes. The only time I've had problems have been switching between custom roms with known compatibility issues, or pushing the boundaries with undervolting the cpu.
There is a lot to gain (faster updates, fixes for known bugs) and little to lose really. You also have great options for personalising your phone with custom themes, can make the camera work when the battery is low, get rid of camera and boot sounds, the list goes on...

As nofam said, get Titanium Backup. It's fantastic and if anything goes wrong will save your butt.
Idiots on xda are rife, people simply don't read instructions.

I'm also having the Trademe problem, running SkyRom V2.1
