Hi There!

Well it took longer than I expected, but I have the galaxy tab 10.1v in my hot little hands (Well actually it's charging). I'll give feedback once I have been playing with it a little while.

Crikey that's tempting. Have you had a play with the Acer A500? I'm planning to pick one up from JB HiFi on Thursday after work, but if the Galaxy 10.1 is significantly better then I'd have a bit of a re-think... :P

I haven't played with mine yet, but the A500 screen was pretty average and it was hefty and Samsung have such a good track record. I will miss the usb port, but other than that, I'd bet on the Samsung product everytime.

I'll post back with some information in the next 24 hours

While we're on the topic; I found this post comparing the Motorola XOOM, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Acer Iconia A500.

Samsung seems to be the clear choice.

networkn: Samsung seems to be the clear choice.

based on that review?

I wouldn't say that, it would seem to me that they are pretty even in that review, with only marginal pros and cons depending on what you want to use it for.

e.g. the samsung has a better camera, but no expandable memory and only 16GB internal which is quite poor.
or...
the samsung is a bit lighter but feels lacks the premum feel.
etc etc.

All three sound pretty damn good, but my preference would be the Motoroloa or Acer based on that review (16GB not enough memory for me)  I only plan to use the cameras for skyping, so having 8MP is pointless for me.     but yeah, personal preference.

I got the Galaxy Tab 10.1 (not 10.1v) from Google I/O and while it is a sweet device I've sadly decided to sell it in favour of another device - the new tablet is amazingly slim and light, surprisingly grunty and great battery life ("pick two" just went out the window in the last development cycle).  I'm not sure how it compares to the 10.1v (except that mine is wifi-only), but in my experience it matches the the Acer and Motorola for grunt and blows them out of the water for weight and thickness (or lack thereof).  As a developer and wannabe hardware hacker, however, I have decided to get the Acer as it is a bit more expandable out of the box.

If you are interested check out the Offers and Wanted forum.  Happy to give a rundown of the device for anyone that's interested.

Networkn, how you getting on with your tab?

I snaffled up the Google I/O one mentioned above, spent most of this evening playing with it :)

Which tablet optimised apps have you played with? For that matter, which other apps have you tried that have upscaled well? I was sad to note that my RSS reader of choice, NewsRoom, doesn't really work upscaled.

BTW, since these are using a stock BT stack WiiMotes will work them (unlike other Samsung Droids). Been loving Mario Kart on N64oid with my Datel Retro Wireless Controller!

Its quite a nice companion to the SGSII, since it has the Tegra SoC, which means I don't have to miss out on the Tegra Zone games (really looking forward to Galaxy on Fire 2 this month exclusively for Tegra devices).

Yep, aware of the difference, much of the experience is equivalent though...

What are the actual differences, I have struggled to find them anywhere!

Main differences are cosmetic - the 10.1 Google I/O version is slimmer and lighter than the 10.1v. Few other things, but not much in it really. The Google I/O one is not the same as the upcoming tab 10.1 (just to make things even more confusing).
