RobDickinson: Is there anywhere to see/use one of these in Christchurch?

I've looked  at the Acer tablet in stores and its OK but not as slick as an iPad, interested in this baby if it can work well + the keyboard dock.

I'm in Christchurch and I'm excited to say my tablet has just arrived and is currently being charged Laughing
I haven't even looked at anything other than the plastic cover saying it was Honeycomb 3.0.
Still my plan is to root it over the weekend and hopefully someone on XDA will have the 3.2 version available.

droopanu: Mine updated last evening ...

Gah... lucky you :)

Where did you get yours from? Looking at XDA looks like most US people are still waiting. I've been hitting check updates every 10 minutes for the last 24 hours to no avail :D

*** EDIT ***

Wahoooo... Just got it, downloading now!! Cool

Same for me. On the way!

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

Nope :(
That's my biggest issue with Honeycomb:
All browsers are quite crappy, and I miss my chrome add-ons ....

I reckon it's a lot of work to port Chrome onto android, and especially the touchy touchy part :)

On the bright side, it can play flash videos better than most netbooks :)

Yeah maybe. Doesnt bother me, there are apps that do the chrome bookmark sync and stuff like that. I'm guessing the chrome browser just isnt designed to run on a mobile device with less resources and a few quirky features (pinch to zoom, rotate, text resize, etc...)

OK, upgrade complete. Now running 3.2!!

So far not noticed any major changes, seems a little bit smoother - but thought it was pretty smooth before. Biggest plus for me is the apostrophe bug in the exchange email client is now fixed!! Yay!! I can now send messages like "I'll be back" and they'll appear OK :D

The about battery is also now reporting correctly which is goood.

The new mouse pointer is really weird :D
Looks like Asus gave up trying to emulate the mouse, and the touchpad is now emulating a finger:)

Hows the swiping between pages on the home screen? The Acer is quite clunky compared to the ipad.

i.e. you need a firm and definite place finger and move, the ipad is much slicker light swipe shifts across.

Lets be honest... iPad sets the standard pretty damn high. But I've found the TF to be pretty bloody good in this respect. Certainly a lot better than the Acer unit I had a play with in JB. The Acer was really laggy in the page changes where I find my TF pretty smooth. Is it as good as the iPad? Probably 95% as good IMO, whereas the Acer was like 50% as good.

Well I've just turned mine on and had a bit of a play.  I never noticed any lag or any firmness required to move from screen to screen.

I've got Galaxy S phones and I'd say the TF101 is possibly even less of a gentle touch required to what I'm used to with swiping from home screen to home screen.  I was barely holding my finger to the screen.  Mostly because I can see how quickly the screen ends up with smears and I don't have a cover for it.  So I'm being very gentle with it's use :)

For those of you who have rooted your tablet, what ROM are you using?  Or what have you tried?  What's your preference?

Though right now there's only one Alpha HC3.2 Rom on XDA.

By comparison to my Galaxy SGS2 the development of the TF101 is still in it's early stages with fewer developers working on it - or so it appears to me.

I'm glad to have successfully rooted and had CWM applied correctly.  It's much nicer to have my apps restore using Titanium Backup.

I'm finding the SwiftKey Tablet keyboard good, but the letter "B" is on the right side and it does my head in.  On a normal computer keyboard it's on the left side.  Other than that, a thumb (split) keyboard is much easier to use on the tablet.  Though my hands are a little too small to make it as comfortable as it should to use.

Would you guys say the Transformer is better than a 1st gen iPad?

All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.
