Thanks for the awesome info Sbiddle, that makes a lot of sense. I guess not having HSUPA upload is why 2Degrees download is also slower since ack packets take up bandwidth.

With a little more experience, we're getting the best out of the battery on the Sensation. Admittedly lighter use than it's seen with the rigorous testing we've subjected it to, nonetheless this stint wasn't an ecomomy run by any means (although that could be an interesting test by itself).

Fairness requires disclosure that 3G was only enabled when necessary, with wifi doing the heavy lifting the remainder of the time. In fact, wifi radio was left on 100% of the time (except while testing 3G signal and speeds) as was the GPS radio. The Sensation's GPS management is stellar, with the radio only drawing detectable power when accessed by the apps that use it.

Galaxy S has gone to its new owner. HTC Sensation has gone to its new
owner. Galaxy S3 has gone to its new owner. Now using Galaxy Note 3. Skipping Note 4 I think...

darkasdes2:I found in the weekend  when I was recording a video at a concert that the sound was really distorted ( couldn't handle the bass  on playback on the phone and my laptop). Has anyone else come across this yet?

Most likely a limitation of the microphone as it's not really design for that sort of sound application.

I hope this is the right thread to ask this, if not, please forgive me. I've just found out in the last 15 minutes that I've won an HTC SEnsation - will I be able to use it on Vodafone? I still have 12 months to go on my Vodafone contract, so I hope I can use my super cool new phone without having to pay to switch networks.

You will be able to use it, you just won't get nationwide 3G coverage as you would on XT.

Than you Nzbeagle. Apparently I can get 3G on 2100MHz, so I just have to find out if Voda provides that in Hastings. I don't get around much, so if they do, then I'm set, pretty much.

My freebie Sensation arrived yesterday and I am loving it! One question though, can I get it to display full Unicode, and if so how? I get a daily email written in devanagari, and have a collection of Hindi song lyrics in the same script, and my X10 Mini Pro running 2.1 will display the characters, but my Sensation running 2.3.3 shows only blank rectangles. I would love to be able to read the lyrics to my songs as I play them on my phone, so any help getting Unicode enabled will be very much appreciated.

Also, I am still seeing the old style App market, I was under the impression that 2.3 and up had the new style?

I think the new market is still being rolled out. You can manually install it if you can find a copy though.

Thanks, no rush for the new market, I'd rather get my Unicode back. :)

So.. I'm going to be going to Aussie for a few days next week... what settings in the phone do I need to change, so I won't get pushed all my data from my different apps?

Is there something I can easily change?

EDIT: I've just found a setting called Data Roaming - Connect to data services when roaming. This is currently unticked.

I think I've just answered my own question!

Anyone else had the volume rocker fall out of their Sensation?

Mine fell out at some point a few days ago, no idea where and only within a few hours as to when.

Googling around says this can happen if you take the back off the phone frequently. I may have had the back off the phone between a dozen and 20 times.

Losing the rocker doesn't really interfere with the operation of the phone. You can use a widget to control volume settings or a small object to manipulate the now-recessed buttons the rocker used to depress. Camera zoom can be controlled on-screen with the touch slider.

But I'd rather it hadn't happened.
