yip sure is. No problems at all so far.
I did a titanium backup of apps first and restored most of the ones I wanted.
Most of everything I needed was already on my SDcard but cant find anything missing yet, so all good !

Glad to hear you got it all sorted Jeremy. Artoo was a great help. I wasn't much help as was away.

Have just put Jellybean on my Asus Transformer... Mmmmm, buttery!

Can't wait to put it on the Sensation when it is stable enough.

Okay, back on the JB kang ROM as my daily driver.

A couple of caveats:
To get your headphones working, you'll need to download the Wired Headset Routing Widget from the Play Store. It's free and works flawlessly. It is just a workaround though - it takes the read speaker output and feeds it to the headset, but it's a stereo signal so you'd never know it wasn't meant for headphones.

The widget is a simple toggle from your home screen which allows you to revert to rear speaker again by just toggling it back off. The devs are currently working to bring auto-routing back but this is fine in the meantime.

Update: New build has fixed the headphones issue, so the workaround above is no longer necessary.

So far, the alpha ROM is stable enough to use as my daily driver, but I do miss the mic-enabled apps like G-Strings guitar tuner, my audio recorder, Shazam and so on, but they'll be the next priority following a working camera. No, the camera app doesn't see the hardware thus far but the brains trust is on it. :-)

There's a new non-dev thread at XDA which will discuss Jelly Bean workarounds, improvements and updates so will be a better place hopefully for timely info on ROM progress. It you'd like to follow it, go here. I expect you'll recognize my contributions... :-)

Cheers,
R2

This thread really is a bit of a ghost town these days - hard to know if anybody is still using their Sensation or have moved on/up to something newer and cooler. But just in case there's still some who want the latest Google-goodness on their phone, I'll post here from time to time as the community efforts evolve.

Like today's. Another update to let you know how the Jelly Bean OS is working out for me as daily driver. Short answer, it's totally usable. While I'm not seeing the level of smoothness that JB is oft quoted as delivering, the OS is indeed more responsive and app loading and browser page loading are noticeably quicker.

There are some GUI and system changes which will probably take you a day to get used to but after that it's all happily familiar. But it's fair to say that most of the improvements are under the hood and the experience is not unlike the ICS one - just a bit nicer here and there. The ROM I'm on is for all intents an AOSP variety with no Sense overlay to be seen. Future ROMs will be available with Sense for those who prefer it.

As usual, with a ROM that's pre-beta, it has its share of glitches and the following exist now but are being sorted as they're discovered.

- Camera app not working
- Apps other than phone (Google Now as a case in point) that require mic input don't work yet
- Occasional graphics glitches including text smearing in notification bar, some Google app input screen image disturbances
- Full screen video with hw acceleration causes system freeze but normal video display size is fine - turning HW acceleration overlay off allows full screen playback with no freezing
- Bluetooth pairs with my laptop but file transfer app not functional - BT headsets work though

That's about it. If it's not on that list, it's working, in my experience.

Hope that info is of interest to some here. If I don't get any responses, I'll probably give keeping the updates going a miss. But if anybody needs a specific question answered, you can always drop a PM to me and I'll answer as best I can.

In summary, HTC may have decided that your Sensation doesn't deserve Jelly Bean, but they would be wrong. :-)

Cheers,
R2

I am here for you Artoo ;) I have been keeping up to date with the posts and am very interested in what you are posting up. I probably won't be chucking it on the Sensation any time soon though. Just wait until it is a bit more stable/useable.

Thanks for the updates mate!

LOL...

An audience of one is always preferable to conspicuous silence so thanks for looking in and for the kind words. :-)

If I have a regret, it's that the much-touted Google Now isn't running yet - I'd like to compare the functionality to that of Apple's Siri as I have an editorial piece in mind for NZTF's blog. Just gotta be patient...

My first flash of JB was interesting but ultimately too limited to be useful. The current iteration is beta in all but name (I'm expecting the dev to change his descriptor over the next couple of days) so you shouldn't have long to wait.

As always though, do a Titanium backup, back your SMS file up and use Google sync as belt and braces before you begin. And do a Nandroid image backup from recovery before doing a complete wipe and everything should be golden.

Cheers,
R2

I am glad I made the effort to go to GB. Phone is running like a charm and is a bit quicker, and the battery life is better.....AND it doesn't get as hot when the screen has been on for a while ! That used to P me O !

Keep the updates coming R2.

Hi Artoo,

Just a question regarding ICS on the Sensation on Telecom XT...I finally got my GB ROM back and running and im ready to take the plunge to ICS. I'll need to S-OFF the phone first but are there any particular firmwares/ROMs that you'd recommend? I'm a bit unsure as to whether certain newer firmware is going to cause me issues or whether it doesnt really matter :-)

Cheers!
Ben

It's really a personal choice on which way you go with this. My choice was to keep it stock and it was really smooth (probably why I don't see the buttery smoothness so much in Jelly Bean). Others prefer modded ROMs to get improvements in battery, or WiFi, or look and feel or whatever customisation they feel they need.

My advice is to read the XDA forums and check out the feedback from actual users before committing. But it's easy enough to revert to a previous ROM should you regret your choice, so be a little adventurous if you wish.

Usually the ROMs will excel at something but be worse at other stuff, hence the reason I chose stock. It was totally stable and a good place to begin if you intend to experiment later.

In your case, you may well want to wait for a stable JB and skip ICS altogether since it's nearly ripe for release.

Your call though.

Cheers,
R2

Shouldn't be long now dude...

Wish HTC were as conscientious as the XDA dev community.

Hey guys. I too am still watching this thread. My sensation is in for repairs at the moment. My volume rocker came off. I'll be interested to see if it is covered under the warranty as i have custom cm9 Rom and repaired my screen myself after a mishap involving the concrete floor in the garage. I have bought myself a Nexus 7 from DS today so am enjoying jelly bean in all its glory. Can't wait to get my phone back and will probably have to flash a new Rom so will give jb a go.
