PROBLEM!

Partners HTC Sensation (normal stock handset from Telecom running Android 4 after recent OTA update) won't start up. Powers up ok but stays on the attached screen - no Android starting up.  He says he did a NeoReader app update this morning, then the screen never really started up properly after that.  When booting up (after battery and SIM out) it says Android Is Upgrading - Optimizing Applications 1-28 (which it goes through ok), then says Starting Applications - then nothing but the attached pic.

Any way to get this up and running again???

It looks to me like your notifications are dragged to the bottom of the screen. Do the buttons work? Can you switch the Bluetooth on and off?

Best thing is perhaps to a factory reset. Enter the bootloader by:

1. Removing the battery, reinsert
2. Hold down the power and volume down buttons at the same time.
3. This will get you into the bootloader.
4. Select reboot to recovery.
5. Choose Factory reset from that menu.

Hope this helps a bit.

Cheers.

Yeah it is dragged down for the photo, otherwise the screen's blank except for the time/batt etc.  Buttons work ok, can turn settings on and off.

Any way to sort without a factory reset? It wasn't backed up... (silly I know)

OK. So, launcher could be screwed up then. Try going to play.google.com from any old PC and logging into your google account then install a new launcher from the market from the website. It should download to the phone. Then when you reboot it should ask you which launcher you want to use. Choose the new one you just installed.

See if the new launcher brings you any joy.

Too late - partner got pissed off and Factory reset it - going ok again. Someone might remember to back their phone up from now on, and turn off Android updates :P  Thanks for the help though!!

Hey guys.
Interesting thing just happend !  My battery went flat. Connected the phone up to charger, left it to get a bit of charge in to it so I can open it to get some info i had sorted on the phone.
THEN, it told me Android was updating, and there were 51 files being updated!

I am running a Custom ROM......forget the name. It was one R2 put me on to, so, where did the update come from? Was it Telecom ? or did it come from the people who did the custom ROM, or froms some where else? SI there any way I can find out?

Thanks, Jeremy

Turned on my Telecom HTC Sensation yesterday and it immediately updated to Android 4.0.

Most welcome.

Right now I am running the un-official cyanogenmod version of Jelly Bean, and all is going perfectly except I am still having problems with my camera. The phone also locks up or crashes a couple of times per day which is annoying (first I only updated the phone so I thought a full wipe might fix it but no deal). I have to remove the battery and put it back in to get it working again. Apart from that I haven't come across any problems.

I have also tried the aokp which is nice, but I got rid of it because my clock didn't work and I needed it for the alarm or else school probably wouldn't see me until late in the day!

Hey. I am running JB on the Sensation from XDA and it is progressing. Bruce is doing a great job with the ROM and it is getting almost daily updates. I have been running it as my full time ROM. There are still a few outstanding issues with it:

1. Wifi hotspot only works in open mode (no WPA password protection) although you can use Barnacle hotspot from the market)
2. The front camera doesn't work
3. There is a random lockup problem which doesn't seem to have a solution at the moment (or noone can put their finger on exactly what is causing the issue). This seems to be completely random although the phone is still going but the screen is dead. This requires a battery pull to reset. I haven't had it in a few days but one day I got about 5 in a row.

The main issue is that there are so many people running it now that the thread is getting full of issues with people who have flashed various builds that I think the main issues are getting lost in the noise.

I am certainly enjoying using it and it is the only ROM I am using. If the random lockup problem is solved then I can live without the front facing camera!

Cheers, Matt.
