I lost my Galaxy S2 about 48 hours ago in China but have returned to NZ today. As soon as I realised it was gone (which would have been an hour or two after it was lost), I contacted Vodafone NZ and got them to disable the SIM card.  There seemed to be little else I could do from China and I was also short on time prior to leaving there.


I am now wondering what else I can or should do. The phone had no PIN number or unlock swipe pattern on it. I had activated the Android remote 'track/disable' (or whatever it is called) function on the phone itself but I do not know how to activate it, or whether it can be activated once the SIM has been disabled. I am just unsure how that whole thing works. I am concerned that the finder may be using my Android market account so I will now change the google account password asap. 


I know all this sounds kinda pathetic but it's the 'won't happen to me' syndrome. I would welcome any suggestions - thanks.

First thing visit a Vodafone store and get a new SIM activated on your mobile number, That will kill the SIM card that is in China

The built-in tracking system is called Samsung Dive - you can activate it here: http://www.samsungdive.com/DiveMain.do

You can also use "Plan B" - but that does require that the handset still has market access and will accept a remote install request.

Many thanks guys. I got logged into Samsung Dive and it recognised my mobile number as registered but none of its options seemed to work. This could be because (a) the Dive system does not operate in China (where I lost the phone) or (b) the SIM card needs to be operating for Dive to operate? I asked Voda NZ to disable the card as soon as I found the phone was lost.
