I have gone to "Better Keyboard" with "Rapid" skin, It gives you the option to change the height of the keys which is great to fine tune a key size that works for the individual

Bigger screen is nothing but a win for me, so much so that when the Samsung Note becomes available i am sure i will upgrade again purely to get that extra screen real estate, the user experience is much improved with screen size imho. I do wonder if large screen phones will have any affect on tablet sales much as tablets have to laptops, after all a 5.3" device is a lot more portable than a 10" tablet :P (Regardless I have promised the wife an ipad3 upon release lol)

Was there any truth a long time ago that Apple were considering a samsung derived screen for upcoming iphone? Maybe their love hate relationship had some impact on ip4s final screen choice and the great patent war?

acsonline: This is an interesting topic. Recently i switched from an iPhone 4 to an HTC Wildfire and then an HTC Sensation for a month - which is enough time for me to acclamatize to differences.

Loved the big screen on the sensation, great with navigation apps especially.. as long as I wasnt typing.

For some reason using the stock keyboard was a pain on the larger screen. Even Swype (which is what I normally use on Android) was just that little bit inaccurate.

Anyone else experience something similar?

I have swyped on other phones, but I have always found it really easy on my SGSII. Obviously it takes a bit longer in landscape mode, but that is a given, and I don't really email/text in landscape all that often.

When the 4inch screens first came out (samsung) I thought they were grotesque and oversized - I thought my 3.5 inch screen was just right.
Now I think 4.3 is just right, and had a play with an SII and it didn't feel oversized.
Strange how things change, there must be some form of pocket limit though - - -

dafman: I want a new phone ... I'd buy one in a heartbeat ... if it wasn't for Android handset makers obsession with increasing the screen size with each new model! At 4.65" the upcoming Google Nexus is hardly going to be pocketable. I imagine there must be a lot of people like me who want dual core with a high-res Super AMOLED screen, but with a screen size at around 4" max! I am living with a LG P500. Was going to upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy S2, but in the end the phone is just too big to live in my jean pockets on weekends!! Grrrr.....

Shirt pocket.

My shirt pockets can easily handle a 5" to 6" screen device as long as it is thin and light.

I have stopped wearing t-shirts. They don't have a good breast pocket.

I hate stuffing any phone into my jeans - large or small.

+1

More screen is good. I have room. Just keep the device of a weight similar to SGSII, HTC Sensation or even the slightly heftier LG Optimus 3D.

I'm also not a fan of huge screens.

Im pretty sure much of the reason I'm not liking my first Android experience is the fact that I cant operate the SGS2 effectively and easily with one hand.

How am I supposed to fap and swap tabs to different porno websites at the same time?

I'm thinking approx 4" is optimum for me (dont even say it, I mean screen size).

tonyhughes: Whats wrong with a Galaxy S (original). Rooted and ROMed it is a very powerful device that still kicks around with the new boys on most things.

To be honest, the original galaxy s is the best bet at the moment. It is about as big as I want to go re physical size - and it still is a very good looking phone today. The only thing ... I want a dual core, and better screen resolution than the original galaxy ... so am holding off for that reason.

I do like the look of the Desire S - it is a great size, but the Super LCD screen doesn't have the same wonderful contrast that the AMOLED screens have. You can't beat the deep blacks from the AMOLED. For me, my next phone must be super AMOLED. And the Desire S is only single core.

I may still have to bite the bullet on the S2 ... but continue to hold out that a 4" super phone is just around the  corner!

I can easily reach all 4 corners of my HTC Desire, As well as any other phone I have tried ranging from the iPhone 4 to the SGS2.

I'm very much looking forward to the Nexus Prime and its looking like it will be my next phone, The SGS2 looks nice and the Galaxy Note even nicer but I cant stand Touchwiz.

On a side note I never wear jeans and have fairly large hands as do a number of the people I know.

Have to say while I can live with middle of the range contrast of SLCD I cant stand the messed up colours of AMOLED.

I had to use an iPhone 4 the other day, it was virtually impossible for me to type on, I've got "large" but not "huge" hands and I was continually pressing the wrong letters. My SGS2 by comparison I have a lot less trouble with. The screen size of it is good for me. 4.6" might be pushing it a bit but I suspect I wouldn't mind at all.

I had that too, but soon used to it, same with my E71 getting used to where the fingers go so they contact correctly. Now super fast texting

8 months ago I said I'd stick with my P500 "coz big phones wont fit in my pocket"
Turns out I'm wrong. I run a Sensation these days and notice no differrence! And my pockets are the same size!

And the sensation is a billion times better (screen-wise) than my old androids.

Yes, I have a sensation and find I make a ton of mistakes typing on it, I put it down to the 16:9 screen being narrower
than my Desire HD, it's only 5 or 6mm, but seems to make a big difference.

I'd really like a 4"-ish version of the galaxy note, a stylus pen doesn't need a big screen to be efficient as long as the sensor is accurate.

I agree.  After 50 years I'm now looking for T-shirts with pockets to fit my SGS.  I would never put my ph in pants pocket.
