tchart: IlDuce, Im interested to hear how you are getting on now? Any better/worse?

Somehow I missed your comment.

Over the course of a few days of ownership I got over the fact it won't play TV on demand, and have grown to like it.

It turns out all the crashing only happened that one day straight after the upgrade from 2.0 to 2.21... turning it off and back on that first night fixed it and it never crashed since... So I guess its like installing new things on a PC and the OS requires a restart to work properly.

The battery life is great, I used it several hours every day, and it went for 12 days until I had to charge it.
I use it for Trademe, email, geekzone, stuff, metservice, geonet, wikipedia, youtube, google and facebook (only), and I like how well it works.

As previously mentioned the speakers are quiet playing youtube videos, and are in mono only, but playing MP3 files is louder, clearer and in stereo.

I've just been given a Vodafone Android phone, so I can use it as a hotspot for the Cruz, but since the phone can go onto google market, the last few days I have been busy downloading apps so cruz has sat unused.

I see that Warehouse Stationery now sell the T105 (Sale starts today, $229), which is the original tablet advertised erroneously in their mailer. Also note the description of it on their site is STILL wrong (screen aspect for starters), and can they advertise it as being able to use Amazon Appstore when not available in New Zealand?

Oh another thing is it ships with a USB cable, and an AC plug with USB socket. It is rated 5V at 1A.

So to charge it as supplied is via mini USB port on the tablet.

However the tablet itself has a charging pin input rated 5V 3A. But no mention of polarity. So I guess if a suitable charger could be found it will charge 3 times faster?

I assumed a PC USB puts out 500mA (?), and I timed how long it took to charge from 0% to full charge by USB on the PC, and it took 11 and 1/2 hours.

I guess by the supplied AC USB thingy it will be around 6 hours.

Also there is a charging LED which glows red while charging, this does turn green when charging is completed.

If the T105 is the one they labelling as $229 and available from today (from memory of reading catalogue) which one did you get?

Also whats the UI smoothness like after the Froyo update?

The Original ones for $199 were Cruz T301.

I can't draw a comparison between 2.0 and 2.21 as I upgraded it straight away so I can't comment on whether there was a noticeable improvement.

I'm not an expert on these things but the tablet speed wise performs as well as my Huawei ($129) phone, but is much slower than a Samsung Galaxy 10" tab.

Oh right, so its not horrible then, just a bit slow?

The T105 is the better tablet? Or do they have their own pros and cons?

On the face of it I think the T301 has:

256MB RAM
800 x 600 (4:3)
2GB built in storage

The T105

512MB RAM
800 x 480 (16:9)
1GB built in storage.

However I have not been in to look at the box of the T105, the specs are possibly different.

And yes I find it a bit slower, but no definitely not horrible.

The definition of horrible in terms of speed is the Nokia C1:00 - I wish I recorded a video, but they are the slowest phones I have ever seen (5 seconds to load messages for example).
