So last night I heard my N1 buzz and saw it had switched off. It wasnt doing anything and although the battery may have been low I dont remember it being low enough to just switch off. At least there were no warnings of being 15% etc.

I hit the power button, saw the battery was 1% so put it in the dock too. It came to the lock screen and everything was force closing and I mean everything. LauncherPro, SlideIT, Music the lot, every app I have installed, the phone just wouldnt start. The short story is I had no option but to restore to original but it turns out Ive lost my backups too.

So as Im starting from fresh Im wondering if its worth having a play with rooting and some ROMS. I love my N1 as it is and use it for a lot of non-phone things. Can I expect to be able to do all those things with a ROM? I assume so.

Any suggestions on what I should try? Im by no means a n00b with pc's and phones but havent bothered to look into rooting because Ive been able to do everything without it.

I could just reset it all back as it was, but of course there is always an itch to have a play :)

Oh how I would love one of those.

But times are tough, I have young kids to feed and to be honest Im over wanting to have the very latest gadgets when everything I have is more than good enough for what I need it for.

Heaps of differant roms there and everyone has thier own opnion and likes. Best thing is to go on XDA and read the forums of each Rom so you can see if there are any problems.

Otherwise just pick from what others say and hope it goes well
