I use the SlideIt swiping keyboard in portrait mode (landscape is too.....wide) for typing and it works really well and feels very natural. Definitely better than two-handed hunt-and-peck (my laptop / desktop typing mode).

Have you tried Swype Beta? It has an option where you can go from a keyboard the complete width of the screen to a much smaller keyboard which is easier to swipe.

Cheers

I've tried Swype several times. I didn't like the way it remembered word fragments which increasingly get in the way of actual words. It's also beta, so I had validation issues when flashing ROMs on my phones. SlideIt is a finished product and no fragments. It's also easier to add new words on the fly.

I haven't tried Swype for about a year now.....maybe it has improved.

Long click on the word fragment to highlight it and go into the options and you can delete the word from Swypes memory.  Just worked this out today to remove some stored words that were not spelt correctly.
