Thanks to custom ROMs, my Samsung Dive will not work. Please do not try to assist in making it work, this is not the point of the thread and I have spent the last 6 months trying ...

My requirements
- communicate with person who has the phone
- web interface
- tracking/location
- control phone eg lock/wipe
- able to do all that even if they put in new sim

So:

Wheres my Droid Pro - useless if someone puts in a new sim card!
 - no web interface

prey - some bad feedback

what about avast - can you disable everything but the phone tracking feature? is it possible to uninstall or permanent once installed?

looked at the app and market also suggested "android lost" and seek my android ... both are free ... thing is, how do you know the writer can't turn into a skynet and control the world at the worst, or steal your data/privacy?

GPS MY DROID seems to work for me, although I haven't had to use it in an emergency yet

I run Wave Secure. It used to be a free app by TenCube but they were brought out by McAfee. It is now a paid app for all new users.

It does feature automatic lock whenever a sim card is changed and has the other features of remote lock, remote wipe, call log & SMS back-ups and phone tracking.

hmm the one by avast seems the best bet - just because i would trust avast more than some random dude with access into the depths of my phone ...

but it does say it's very very very very hard to uninstall from rooted phones ... what if i actually want to uninstall it! any experience with this?
