avecha: So the exploding S3 that the guy overseas was accusing/getting ready to sue Samsung about was from the guy putting it in a microwave. He removed all accusations towards Samsung.
Funny fella.

I hope he returned the replacement S3 Samsung gave him

networkn: Hi There!

Ok is there a tech support number for these wretched phones. I am AGAIN having WIFI Issues.

This morning I wasn't connected via wifi, I restarted my phone, still not. Toggled WiFi on and off, bingo, connected. This is seriously starting to piss me off.

Has been happening to me too.  I just reboot the router and it's good as gold again. It is annoying, I will say that and it shouldn't happen. Didn't have any problems like this with my S1.

I didn't get the problem initially until I had the phone a couple of weeks, probably occurs once / twice a week now I think and most likely when I have been away from wifi and then come back into coverage.

I am on Stock ROM too, Vodafone handset on XT.

Yup that pretty much explains my experience well. It's really annoying, I have blown through a 1GB of 3G traffic this month already, Thank God for the Promo I got my phone on!

nofam: Can someone on the new LFB firmware confirm for me whether inserting a headphone plug still brings up the menu in the notification screen with the music player, video player short cuts?  The new WanamLite ROM doesn't seem to do this any longer. . . .

actually no it doesn't - and the wee headphone icon doesn't show up in the notification bar either

Cheers Lambchop - are you on the stock LFB, or a custom firmware?

networkn: Murray: who are you with? Yours looks older than mine which is LF2. I was given this update OTA automatically by VF.

My phone was bought from Warehouse Stationary and so is a 2Degrees phone, but Vodafone is my provider.

In settings, there is a check for update option. Try that. Not saying it will fix your issue, but since you don't have the update yet.

me too but very occasionally. i use same workaround as you.

Mine does this sometimes.

I just toggle the wifi on then off and it comes right.

Also have an annoying issue with web browsers where i click on a bookmark like google.co.nz and it just hangs for a long time.
I have to close the tab and choose another bookmark to a new site and it seems to kickstart it again.

Are those of you having Wifi issues running 802.11n?  And if so, is your router a dual-band model?

I'm running 802.11g and my router isn't dual band.  I'm running an old Dynalink RTA-1025W at both home and work.

It doesn't happen all the time, but seems to happen more often when I go out of range and then back into range.
