darkness: So where's this VF update then? I have a store bought, standard firmware S3, and I'm getting no update found.

Model: GT-I9300
Android Version: 4.0.4
Baseband: I9300XXLF2

Have you tried it using Kies?

Whats the store you purchased it from? If DSE, I believe theirs are actually parallel imported, even though they aren't advertised as such. So far there hasn't been an update for at least some of them.

1 device from dse In my house hasn't got update yet. Believe its imported from Kenya of all places

Just did Kies update (i don't use that software very often), and it's definitely picked something up. Running the process now.

Thank you sir. Sorry I should have thought of that :)

Google now is a bit of a battery hog, once I got over what it did and found I didn't need it as much as extra battery life I switched it off

How good is the face recognition lockscreen option on Jelly Bean?

If you also tick the "Presence check" option, you have to blink your eyes to unlock the screen.

Beam me up Scotty!

Yes google now is a quite battery hog.
My screen display used to be top 1 now google now is. Probably ill give it couple of more days to see if it's worth extra battery consumption

One annoying bug since I upgraded, lock screen apps no longer work! When I press home button I get to home screen directly. I reinstalled lock screen app but no joy. Only default stock lock screen is working

sitting next to LG TV (its connected to our wifi router) daughter watching TV,  and looking at pictures in my gallery and noticed a new button up the top of the photo with a number 1 in it, tap it to see what it does and next thing the photo is on the TV - how (note wifi was on on phone) as I would have thought there would have been some sort of dialogue?

Good guide here at gpforums for those who aren't stock to get stock, and get this Jellybean upgrade.

My update (from Telecom) went smoothly last night and the S3 seemed fine until about 4:30 pm when it made a couple of little noises then all I get is the Galaxy logo and model on a black screen and it will not boot up.

I cannot even get into recovery mode (Vol Up + Home + Power buttons)

Later when I put the SIM into an S2 I got a text "From Telecom: You should now be receiving a text(s) that will change your phone's settings. Save these settings using PIN: 1234 if needed."

Could the text be related to my now bricked phone?

After waking this morning, my phone's light was on letting me know I have emails but the phone wouldn't switch on. Removed battery etc but it appears it is also bricked. It's a Telecom phone with a 2degrees simcard. Jellybean update applied on Monday night. Any suggestions?
