jeffnz: downloaded Perseus kernal and will flash shortly but a question, using the emmc bug check it shows my phone is VTUOOM but has no rev number there certainly no Oxf1 am I using right checker from google play?.

So to confirm the stock ELLA kernal released earlier has the fix as that is what I am on.

This is the emmc check app I have.

I cannot be 100% sure, but the binary copy of the ELLA kernel has a string in it which is unique to the code that patches the flaw. so, I can say that there's something there, but it's unknown if it's the same code as that we can see in the source that samsung has released.

Basically I can't be sure sorry, but chances are good. The latest Perseus (alpha31.2 now) has what is believed to be the full fix.

Very odd. The fix itself targets the exact combo of VTU00M & 0xf1, so, if your device doesn't expose that to the mmc driver, it won't have any effect on your device.

yes it is odd but flashed perseus latest just in case. Anyway I'm philosophical about it all, if it happens it happens.

XDA is just good entertainment at the moment with a lot running round like chooks with their heads chopped off, a little bit of info and scare mongering works a treat.

Nopes. That tool is for the superbrick bug affecting the S2, we're using it though because it identifies the firmware revision and the type. You're affected.

VTU00M and 0xf1. If you have both of these, the fix is required.

I don't know what to make of all this.

When I ran eMMC check it made no mention of FwRev:0xf1 and my model and cid numbers are different. I'm confused.

apart from CID its teh same as mine but I've flashed the Perseus kernel anyway. Can't advise you one way or other and can't see anything definitive on XDA.

Your call really

Insanekiwi: If anyone is interested in UAG (Urban Armour Guard case) for Galaxy S3 - let me know. YouTube the reviews. It's the version 2 directly from UAG. I have just a few white and blue ones. I got extras with my shipment. Cheers. (I have a few of iPhone 5 whites and blacks as well) They look chunky but apparently quite slim, and very robust. Better than Ottobox commuter - that's why I bought them.

Dammit, youtube tag fail. how the hell does it work Mauricio?

Yeah I'm going to leave it in the mean time. I ran the eMMC check memory test and it was all good. Once the dust settles a bit I'll have a better idea of a plan of attack.

The check tool is for the S2 - so you can ignore anything it says about being a sane chip, or the results of the memory test. the tool was only being borrowed to check the model and fwrev.

Since you have a VTU00M, I'd highly recommend that you apply a kernel update at least - even if it's just the stock one from XXELLA (which is what I've done).

Hey all
Long time lurker on this thread.
Have a problem that am hoping somebody here has been thru

I bought one S3 for me and one for my sister from HN, 32 GB model.
Both now has been update to JB, she update hers in UK, mine been update here in NZ
Today I was on skype with her in Bali, and she was showing me around on her phone
Gosh what a horrible pixelated video, can hardly see anything, both with front and rear camera

Has anybody have the same experience?
Is there a fix for it ?
Would another video software be better, any suggestions ?

Many thanks.

Not sure if this has already been discussed, but I have found that copy and paste isn't working on my S3 in any app. If I copy or cut text, that works, but when I hold to tap, a tab with 'clipboard' appears, but taping that tab, nothing happens. I am using Jellybean 4.1.1, an the phone has been non rooted. It is the international version purchased from DSE. The only non standard things I have installed are the nova launcher instead of touchwiz, and the Swiftkey3 keyboard. But changing the keyboard back to the stock one doesn't fix the problem. I have read of some other people having this problem, and the solution is to either root the phone and clear the cache, or to totally reset up the phone again. Both of which I am not going to do. Rooting the phone voids the warranty, so that is not an option. Apparently it is something to do with the google chrome browser, but uninstalling doesn't fix it. Anyone know a solution?
