this probably applies to all Vaio netbooks, if you have a virtual optical drive installed then connect a physical optical drive, the restore media software does not provide a selection dialogue to alllow the user to select the optical drive to write to. After swearing I'll not buy any more proprietary Sony equipment, here I am with my new Vaio X Series. It is what I have always wanted from a netbook, ultra, ultra, thin & light.

So far it's mostly good. Battery (although obviously brand new) is matching the advertised run time. Windows 7 (read the entire post)...

The VMRC is included within Virtual Server. It can be installed in isolation by running the Virtual Server install and selecting a custom install.

Due to the host dependancies of many aspects of the domain I've decided to try out MS Virtual Server 2005 along with Virtual PC for testing purposes.

I have been quite satisfied with these products, especially Virtual PC as it is free (*see comment). The guest operating system files can b (read the entire post)...

I wanted to keep my 10 year old email address, but wanted mobile email (without paying Telecom and without replacing my JasJar with an Apache). Final solution was Small Business Server 2003 as POP3/SMTP gateway. Xtra does not allow SMTP from non-xtra IP addresses, so the server at home collects and (read the entire post)...
