Gmail contact pictures

Your phone does it, Outlook does it, any number of spyware or adware filled email clients probably do it too. And now Gmail is progressively rolling out contact pictures capabilities to its accounts.

This is (or "is this?") a worrying step towards bloat for the Gmail interface in my opinion. Gmail is feature rich, yet all those current features are genuinely useful. I see Gmail clearly intends to be all things to all people eventually, but I would rather see efforts made on more constructive features rather than the pretty things.

Of course I could just be feeling put out, because I regularly use my Gmail account, and most of the features it contains, I invite others to Gmail constantly, yet I havent been enabled for contact pictures yet...

If you would like a Gmail invite, head to my contact page (see sidebar), and write an electronic mail to me.
