Adobe has announced the signing of new licensing agreements for Macromedia Flash technology, with LG Electronics and BenQ Corporation.
With LG Electronics the agreements cover Flash Lite and Flash Player SDK (Software Development Kit), helping ensure that LG Electronics can deliver Flash technology-enabled user interfaces, content and applications across a wide range of mobile devices and consumer electronics products.
LG Electronics will be using Flash to generate interactive graphic user interfaces and Flash applications on a range of digital devices, including MP3 players and mobile handsets. With the introduction of Flash technology, LG Electronics expects to cut development costs, differentiate its products and quickly build applications to meet diverse consumer demands across geographies and demographic segments. The first LG Electronics mobile handsets that integrate Flash technology are expected to ship in April 2006.
BenQ Mobile, through its new BenQ-Siemens brand, is moving into the mobile handset marketplace in Asia, Europe and North Latin America. Flash Lite will power the user experience across BenQ-Siemens devices, including customized user interfaces and enhanced content and browsing that will help define the personality of an emerging global player in the handset market.
BenQ Mobile expects to begin integrating Flash Lite into its mobile handset offerings in the fourth quarter of 2006. BenQ-Siemens recently introduced EF81, S68 and S88 handsets.
