MobiTV, Inc. is working with Microsoft to bring the MobiTV service and user experience to Windows Mobile-powered smartphones and devices, as well as Windows XP-based PCs and laptops.
The company has selected the Microsoft Windows Media platform, including Windows Media Digital Rights Management, Windows Media Audio and Video codecs and Windows Media Player to deliver live, high-quality television content to a broad range of subscribers.
"We look forward to working with Microsoft to extend our incredibly successful mobile television experience to the desktop. It was an easy choice for us to select the Windows Media platform to deliver a superior television experience to millions of laptop and PC users," said Dr. Phillip Alvelda, CEO and chairman of MobiTV. "Microsoft offers an integrated and complete solution that fulfills our vision to deliver the best possible live television experience to consumers, across a range of devices and networks."
"We already support over 100 different mobile client devices, but have experienced overwhelming demand for MobiTV on Windows Mobile-powered devices and due to the powerful multimedia playback capabilities of Windows Mobile we believe that we will offer yet another industry leading user experience," continued Alvelda.
The service is currently available on Palm-powered Treo devices and other mobile phones.
