WorldGate Communications Inc. has entered into an agreement with Telecom New Zealand that will see the operator purchasing WorldGate’s Ojo Shadow personal video phones.
Ojo is a broadband video phone featuring a display that facilitates realistic, face-to-face, personal communications over DSL and cable broadband networks.
Customers can simply connect their Ojo personal video phone to their broadband networks to initiate video phone calls around the world. WorldGate provide the video phone service for a flat monthly rate.
So, this is the phone that we see before Campbell Live starts. (Touted as a 'Future Service').
Honestly, I think Video Calling is over-rated - but that is because the screen on my VF v600i isn't the largest. Perhaps this will be different. How will telecom get everyone to use it though? I can't see them selling many if they're priced high, as people won't be able to afford it, that said, it's really a novelty item anyway - I know some people would only get it for the brag/thrill/latest-and-greatest (delete as applicable) factor.
