Is anyone else having issues since the upgrade with scheduled series link recordings disappearing from the upcoming recordings?  every night the mysky seems to have forgotten to record things the following day.. so the wife is having to check each day that they are all staying in the list of upcoming recordings.

Yes, we have experienced this problem and so, apparently, have numerous other MySky customers. The answer is to do a "soft" reset by pressing and holding the red button alongside the decoder card. We had to repeat this operation 3 times before it worked, and then we had to reprogramme the series link programmes again. The series link function now seems to work properly. Apparently, it's not recommended to disconnect the decoder from the power to do a reset, which often works when other electronic gear gets locked or malfunctions!

Remember, however, that if you have a daily programme, such as the news on series link, the entry in the planner only shows for the current day. The entry for the subsequent day only appears when the current day's programme starts recording (or has completed recording).

Fred

A soft reset fixed it for me but not before I missed several series linked recordings. Sky need a boot up the arse. Surely they can test updates better than this. Also as soon as they found out they could have sent an email. They have no problem sending promotional material so why not tell us about a cockup rather than trying to keep it quiet.

I was wondering why some of my shows weren't series linking properly lol

Thanks for the tip on the soft reset frednz, it worked a treat for me. I wonder how long it's going to take for people to realise it's not functioning, until they start missing some of their shows? Sky could have been a bit more proactive...

Thanks, it was only when we started missing the news that I thought it was time to investigate! But here's an odd thing, although David Letterman's "Late Show" is on every afternoon at 4pm on Prime, it doesn't respond to a series link request. I wonder why a daily show can't be "series linked"?

It's not going to happen.

Sky are a monopoly and will charge you as much as they possibly can while delivering the worst service they can get away with.

The only kick that will make them listen is if lots of people start cancelling their subscriptions.

We had the same problem, called up Sky, not sure if it worked the first time so might have to try and reset it again.

I'm glad I'm not the only person with the problem. I've seen some people say that your recordings get deleted when you do this reset, though. Does anyone know if that's true?

No, resetting the box (soft with the red button or hard by pulling the power) shouldn't do anything to recordings unless they were corrupted to the point that they couldn't be played anyway.

There's a background process on the box that manages series links and looks for upcoming recordings. It can get hung up by bad data from the headend, which might have come from a failover between servers. It's unlikely to be related to the recent software update per se. Restarting the decoder software restarts the process and lets it pick up the upcoming recordings.

You shouldn't have to restart multiple times, but it may take a while for recordings to appear as the series link data is cycled out over time, and isn't just a linear list, as links for future episodes are clustered around the schedule time for previous episodes, for example.
